In my closet

I was hanging out at my closet this evening and played with my secret stash of Evita Peroni hair accessories. I realized I developed some sort of compulsion towards acquiring E.P. hair stuff. I hardly ever wear any hair accessories (not even hair clips) in my every day life. And if I do, its usually a black elastic band/pony tail holder. I never wore fancy hair stuff, ever. Now I'm obsessing over hair accessories, I even want to design my own.

While most Filipinas either are naturally blessed with gorgeous neat hair or take time to go to the salon, I am more the messy-haired type of girl. The only way I know to make myself look polished is to wear my hair in a tight low ponytail. That was my uniform hair throughout my 7year run hosting F.

When Evita Peroni first opened in Manila a couple of years ago, I used to make fun of it. For a few reasons:

1. Why is the name like that? Hee hee.
2. Who still wears hair scrunchies these days?
3. Who would be crazy enough to pay over P2000 for headbands and hair clips?

Now every time we pass by an E.P. store, my husband reminds me to swallow my words. He knows that the moment I step in to the store, I spend half an hour trying out hair stuff... and I almost always never walk out empty-handed. This is where I go when I need a little treat. Or a little retail therapy. It was what the make-up counter was for me years before (I had this thing for buying makeup palettes because of the lovely packaging, and despite the fact that I get most of my make up for free).

The thing is - I rarely use the hair accessories that I've bought. Most of them have never even been worn. I'm always rushing out the door with a basic black claw (or shark) holding my hair up. Or a little black bobby pin to keep my bangs off my face. I don't know why I keep buying hair stuff. I need to snap out of this.

Is this considered millinery? It was too beautiful to ignore. I got it three months ago. It now sits inside a box, hidden in my closet. Still waiting for its debut.

This is how she'd look if I took her out on a spin. Is it a hat or a headband? Maybe I'll wear it to my cousin's wedding in November.

A black silky band with subtle black crystals on the side. I've never worn it because I sometimes find the band too thick.

This I've worn twice. Both on bad hair days. And never with jewelry.

Chanel-like chains. I've used this maybe once. I should remember to use it more often. It's actually functional because the two chains can keep little wisps in place (without having to spritz hairspray).

Sophia and Lily gave me this fork-like contraption for Mothers' Day. I like it. With just one sweep you can achieve a "french twist."

I bought this today. A double comb with laser cut silk fabric that can hold a french twist or half-up hair style.

While paying this afternoon, the shopgirl told me that if I spent P10,000 in one purchase, I'd be entitled to a 10% discount card. I told her I knew that. But who wants to spend P10,000 in one transaction? I've actually spent way more than that, cumulatively. But they won't honour accumulated purchases. Why not?! Ugh.

Once I texted Chuvaness and told her: I have a confession to make. I find Evita Peroni irresistible. What's happening to me? And she said, some of the stuff are nice and they're really well-made. That they are. But now I want my discount card.
