House by Gilbert Lui

We aired this house again the weekend of the beauty pageant. I had fun tweeting with UZ viewers, a lot of whom stayed up and watched the pageant. This was one of those high impact homes that viewers can't get enough of. After we aired the replay there were requests for another replay. Here's the best I can do. Some snapshots from the shoot. The architect of the house is Gilbert Lui.

The exterior of the house had to conform to the style of the subdivision. So the facade had a Swiss chalet type feel to it.

Faux trellis treatment on the ceiling upon entering. Gilbert wanted the owners to feel like they were entering a tropical space after going through the Swiss chalet facade. It gives the illusion of walking through a long hallway when in fact the space opens up to this...

The living room. The stairs emphasizes the dramatic height of the space. But this is actually just the top half of the house. There's an even more dramatic surprise in the lower floors.

This is basement 1 and 2.

The view from where we were standing (in previous photo).

The family room in basement 2.

The backyard has a koi pond with a little gazebo island and a wall of cascading "waterfalls" that originates from the jacuzzi in the upper floor's balcony. So it's like a three-level water feature.

99% of the new homes I visit in Urban Zone have a koi pond.

What it looks like from the back.

I forgot to mention that this is a weekend home. Not the family's main house.
