This year has been all about milestones. I celebrated my
big birthday,
Sophia turned 7 and
Stella turned 1. We had three major birthday parties. Before this year ends, my dad will turn 70. And I am so thrilled because he chose to celebrate his birthday here in Manila. So the whole gang is coming over. It'll be a wonderful Christmas and New Year's for us.
I'm really the worst party planner. I work with party organizers now, but still the idea usually comes from me. And I'm drawing a blank here. My dad wants a dinner dance. Check! He wants a little fun theme too, something about flying and nostalgia because we are inviting his air force classmates. But it can't be about airplanes or airlines. It must be about helicopters. He's a chopper pilot.

1964 Dad in a Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw, used in Korean War. This was the chopper he first flew solo.
Early 1980's, the First Lady "inaugurating" the new Puma helicopter acquired by my dad's team. I love the groovy uniforms back then.
My life was all about choppers. And now I'm drawing a blank... I need ideas.
When you have a dad(parents) as wonderful as mine, you would do anything to make sure he's(they're) happy and comfortable. They live halfway around the world from me and I miss them so terribly. So I really want this party to rock! We've got the venue and food. We also have a band. But we need new gimmicks...
