Bamboo frame from Kawayan Tech

He bought the frame from our friend Hecky Villanueva of Kawayan Tech. It's completely hand crafted. All bamboo, which is stronger than steel and better than carbon fibre for vibration damping (I have no idea what that means, but that's what he said, unless I heard wrong).

He put together the bike piece by piece. At first he hid the frame from me (because apparently I'm the contrabida of his hobbies... not). But how can you hide a bamboo frame? I discovered it in the back seat of his car, duh. Then the process of putting it together began. And I was sort of involved. Even I had fun watching it grow. He really loves his bike. He rushes home everyday to see and use it around the block. It makes me smile.

I like the seat. It's got a vintage vibe. But apparently it's also a performer. It's a Brooks saddle (full grain leather) - most comfortable seat as it conforms to your butt, whatever. Since 1866.

At first I wasn't a big fan of the frame as it looked very home-economics-Villa-Escudero to me. But when he put it together with all those interesting features, I thought it turned out well. Now I really like how it looks. Very vintage chic.

Big plus is it's eco-friendly. It's also sold internationally. Check out kawayantech.wordpress.com/
