Playmobil

It's no big secret that the hubby likes to play with toy soldiers - the GI Joe kind. He has hundreds of them. Luckily he has a creative streak and has managed to "display" them in an acceptable way. Collectibles are tricky. I don't really collect anything and I wouldn't know how to arrange them in a way that isn't a cheesy mess.

Here's what he did in the guest room downstairs.

Some of Patrick's action figures. Emphasis on "some"

A little bit more

The kids are lucky. They have a dad who loves toys. And they are allowed to play with his action figures. Barbie rides on the tanks and helicopters. The soldiers sometimes guard their dolls houses. And that guest room has become an sort of like a playroom... well, actually the whole house is, as most parents will tell you.

I went through some of his toys yesterday and found something new -- a secret stash of Playmobil medieval soldiers! And they were all standing on guard...

Secret collection of Playmobil. The cutest things!!!

They're so adorable!

I love their uniforms.

All along he's been trying to stop me from buying Playmobil for the girls... because the parts are so small they end up all over the house. Not to mention, they aren't cheap. But I've always loved Playmobil and I want the girls to love them too. So the girls have a little collection as well. Here they are, playing with a few small sets.

This is a combination of about 3 little sets. Those are ostrich eggs that came from a safari group. The princess and things came from a starter set. And the swan came from a little balcony (part of a castle) set. All of them I bought in Hobbes & Landes... one set at a time.

While Lily loves princesses and castles, Sophia loves animals. She makes do with whatever Playmobil she has then she designs homes and spaces for them.

Don't be fooled. My new camera takes awesome macro shots. (I have a Ricoh GRD3 and it is the perfect compact camera!) Those roses are about 5 millimetres wide. So so tiny.

At the end of the day, all little pieces go back into a pink bin. I know we've probably lost a lot of pieces but I really am trying to teach them the importance of keeping their toys complete.

After all, Santa's already checking his list. And Playmobil is on the top of the list for the girls who live in the house with the red door. Luckily Hobbes and Landes is getting a new shipment of Playmobil toys.
