CONTEST: Lasik surgery from American Eye Center

.

I know... it's getting crazy over here. This wasn't in my original list of favourite things. Since it's not a "thing" I had overlooked it. No pun intended.

Lasik was a life-changing decision for me. I always say, it may have been the scariest thing I've done, but it was also one of the best things I've ever done. I highly recommend it to anyone who wears corrective eyeglasses. I hated wearing eyeglasses... for years! Even though I had the best ones - ultra lightweight titanium, lenses that change colour, scratch proof light lenses etc... I always felt weighed down by eyeglasses. And contact lenses, ewww. I wore them too much too long that I felt my eyes were getting scratched on the surface. I can still remember the burning sensation everytime I had them on too long. So I was just too happy to get rid of both my glasses and contacts, to be able to see everything the moment I woke up.

This was me pre-Lasik. Taken in Detroit airport back in 2002. Too brave to show you my stern face sans-makeup.

Lasik, according to Wikipedia, (laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery for correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. LASIK is performed by ophthalmologists using a laser. If you have a lot of questions about Lasik, please read up on it. Google it. Or talk to people who've had the surgery. Or check out American Eye Center, they're located in Shangrila Edsa Plaza and Greenbelt 5. This is where I had my Lasik done over five years ago. They've had over 15 years of experience doing Lasik.

For the lucky reader.

I recently saw my eye doctor during the opening of their new clinic in Greenbelt 5. I wrote about it here. She reads my blog. Hi Doctor Alnette! One thing led to another and the idea of sharing this wonderful gift came about. American Eye Center is awarding one of my readers free LASIK surgery (valued at over P70,000). This does not cover cataract, retina, glaucoma or other surgery.

Who ever wins this Lasik will have to undergo a series of tests to see if he/she qualifies for surgery. Don't worry, the tests don't hurt. Most of them are computerized-look-into-the-light type of things. You can talk to the doctors then and ask all the questions you want to ask - does it hurt, how long is the down time, can I go blind? Once all those those are out of the way, you can book the procedure.

In the event that the winner doesn't qualify for Lasik, he/she can transfer the certificate to someone else (friend, relative etc.) Capisce?

The rules:

1. Leave a comment here/below. All comments are screened/invisible.

2. Answer these questions:

a) Why do you want to have Lasik?
b) Why haven't you gotten Lasik yet?
c) What is your email address

3. You have til Monday, April 12 12noon to leave a comment.

4. The 50th commenter wins.

5. Winner will be revealed on Monday, April 12, 2010, after 6pm.

6. You can only leave one comment. Duplicate comments will be deleted.

7. The certificate is transferrable.

Good luck. And I hope this prize goes to someone who really deserves the gift of perfect vision... whatever that means.
