If you don't care about Michael Jackson, please skip this post. I will sound ridiculously cheesy. But I just have to say...
My heart is heavy. Patrick and I watched This Is It last night.
I can't get over how great an artist he is. And I still can't believe he's gone. Y'all know I'm a big fan and so are my
kids. He is to me who
Elvis is to my dad.
Circa 1984. This is a photo of my sister Johanna - styled and photographed by me in my teenage room. Gosh remember when we used to buy posters? I saved up my allowance just to buy a few MJ posters, much to my mom's disappointment and fear. She didn't like his face... and that was before he turned white and like a woman. My room eventually became like an MJ shrine.
My notes and impressions from This Is It (possible spoilers but I don't think so):
- I love the creative non-outbursts. And instead he says "This is why we rehearse."
- I love how he never goes ballistic like some of our artists/creative people/news anchors do. And instead he'll say "It's about love. L.O.V.E."
- I love how he gives his dancers and co-performers their Moment. "It's your time to shine."
- MJ in Balmain. LOVE!! I have to get a Balmain jacket. And the girls want a Zara kids version. But it's so hot here.
- His costume designer must be Pinoy. The name is Zaldy. Does anyone know who he is? Wow.
- The thing that resonates the most: "Love our planet. We only have four years to fix everything or else it's irreversible."
Balmain. I'm thinking I should get one. Just because.
I wish I'd seen him perform live.
Maybe I'll watch it again later after Pilates. I hope the DVD comes out before Christmas. It'll be on my wish list.
It's all about love. L.O.V.E.
Sigh.
