Okay, I eat my words. Remember when I posted about not buying any baby gear (click
here)? Because we had everything covered - hand-me-downs from the two older kids - and all that? Well, I have to confess. We got a new stroller.
We loved the old Peg Perego and it served us well for almost seven years. Two babies/toddlers. And It held up well during our travels:
in Hong Kong (not a baby-friendly city)
in Nolita, New York City (very baby friendly city)
in Stratford, Ontario
in Toronto
in Rockwell (super baby friendly mall)
Well we took the old stroller out of storage (back of the car) and had it washed. And it still looked so beat up. Kawawa. I figured, maybe perhaps just this time Stella deserves a new stroller. So we shopped around for one and found this at
Hobbes and Landes:
Combi Miracle Turn
I like how it looks like a normal sporty stroller - not an office swivel chair, mondo-machine or ultra modern design statement. But it's actually way beyond normal. This stroller is so light, only 6.1 kg. The seat fully reclines to 170 degrees. A reversible handle (in one easy step) that allows the stoller to be facing you or forward facing. It is the first stroller with all four wheels able to swivel 360 degrees. So no matter which way you're facing you can make sharp turns. I love the mesh windows which allow for controllable air flow and views of the baby. The fabric is some high tech thing that's not a sweat trap. More about the Combi Miracle Turn
here. It can be used from one month onwards. We've only used it once so far, during Stella's 1st week visit to the doctor. We went to lunch at the Club after the doctor's visit so I used the stroller for her to sleep in while we ate. She was only 5 days old. She slept comfortably. I can't wait to take her out on a spin when she's a bit bigger... maybe next week, hee hee. She turns 7 weeks tomorrow. Gosh how time flies.
I'll let you know how the new stroller holds up. I love it. I hope we have as much fun (and more travels) with it like we had with our old stroller. I'm too sentimental.
Here's a photo of my stroller when I was a kid. I don't think it travelled to New York or Hong Kong, LOL. But it served us well too.
