Never mind the fact that she was skipping out on what amounted to a business engagement, or that this was the most blatantly public setting, the kind that brought out all manners of spying eyes and judgements, in which she had found herself face to face with Hannah since Hannah had become a person that somehow factored into her life - Astoria couldn't quite help the lingering once-over she gave the other woman, the initial shock of her unexpected appearance now replaced by that lowly buzzing sort of thrill, the kind so unusually removed from smugness or expectation, that she had almost gotten used to brushing off.

But, well, there was certainly something to be said about the way that dress, simple and understated as it was, clung to all the right places and highlighted all the right spots-

"I generally try to avoid them, actually," Astoria said with as flippant a shrug as she could manage, subtly clearing her throat and tugging at a stray strand of hair.

"I had enough of these fancy things growing up. They lost their general appeal years ago."

Despite herself, Astoria threw a quick glance around the general crowd surrounding them, then gave that lock of hair a sharp wake-up of a tug before flipping it over her shoulder.

"Here with anyone?" she asked, as casually as she could, nothing like any kind of overly-curious interrogation or motive-loaded question, no of course not.
