Daphne Greengrass had finally had enough.

Things at home hadn't been the same for a very long time. Ever since Terry had moved in, or maybe it went all the way back to the summer when Daphne moved back to London, something was off. Every day was forced conversation or uncomfortable silence.

The attack had only made this worse and Daphne felt trapped in her own home. As much as Terry wanted her to relax, he was just putting her on edge with his pitiful looks and lectures. The last thing Daphne wanted to do was dwell on what happened to her or to talk about her feelings about it. She just wanted to move past it. Move on.

So that was exactly what she was going to do. She was going to move on from a lot of things actually, enter the next stage in her life even if that meant doing it alone.

Moving to Paris after graduation had taught her a lot about herself and the most important thing was that she would be okay, no matter what threw at her. She didn't have to reply on anyone for anything, certainly not her parents or any man. Somewhere between Paris and London she had forgotten that, said yes to an engagement as a last ditch effort to save a decade long relationship, and ended up miserable.

Tuesday night had been the last straw, realizing that she would much rather spend the night with a stranger than go home to Terry. It wasn't fair to either of them, not anymore. So Wednesday afternoon, before Terry came home from work, Daphne went home and packed a bag. It was more than he deserved but she wasn't so concerned with him at the moment.

Daphne ended up at Cecilia's flat, shifting her bag from one arm to the next, and knocked on her best friend's door. If anyone would understand what she was doing and why she had to do it, it was going to be her.
