OOC: Bear with me, but I adore writing these and no one has officially seen any Theo/Daphne interaction, so I wanted to write it up myself, and I kind of wanted people to see the Daphne/Theo relationship. They are best friends, but with benefits, as you will see.. And plus, it's just like writing fanfiction, which I miss! But it's not like I'm talking to myself! er... OH and the Theo LJ name is theodore_hwl.So without further interruption...

Daphne joined Theo upstairs in his room. She opened up the closed curtains, finding him out like a light. She smiled and laid herself next to him on the bed, tenderly stroking his forehead. His eyes fluttered open at her touch. She looked down at him and leaned over to give him a kiss on the cheek and then leaned back on his pillows, covering her face with one.

Theo glanced at her. "What's on your mind Daph?" he asked, sitting up to talk to her. She always went up to his dorm to talk like that, when something was troubling her.

"Theo, you know everything is on my mind. There are lots of things that have been troubling me over the last week or two." She turned and laid on her side, removing the pillow that had been obscuring her speech slightly.

Theo scooted himself closer to her and put an arm around her waist, drawing her closer to him. He smiled and brushed a strand of wavy hair off her face. "Daph, have you ever thought of talking to Pansy again?"

Daphne stiffened in his arms. Pansy. She hadn't heard from her since that argument they'd had up in her dorm. She turned so her back was to him and mumbled something.

Theo leaned closer to her, as close as one can get with someone pressed against you like that. "What?" he asked.

She sighed and turned her face. "No, I don't know if I want to Theo. Things were so... angry when we left them... she thinks I'm some kind of whore. At first, I was angry with her, but I realized what a mistake I had made. Pansy was one of my closest friends. She'd never betray me like I betrayed her... sleeping with Draco..."

Now it was Theo's turn to stiffen slightly. Or maybe she could... But he decided that if Pansy ever decided to tell Daphne about her relationship with Blaise, it'd be better for the girl to hear it from Pansy herself, not from an outside source. Sure, it was pretty stupid of Daphne to sleep with Draco like that, and then go tell Pansy, but Pansy knew Daphne was in love with Blaise. He just hoped his girl could handle the news. In response to his thoughts, he stroked her hair gently, wishing he could just take all her pain away. Everyone made mistakes.

Daphne sighed and turned to look at Theo. “You’re such a good friend Theo.” She smiled at him. She was lucky she had someone like Theo to just go to and forget about all her problems- and not in a sexual way either. Sure they had the occasional snog, but she wasn’t going to sleep with him. Like I’d make the same mistake twice, she thought bitterly. She turned on her back again, staring at Theo’s night table next to his bed as he stroked her hair. Draco and I used to be like this, until I screwed up… I just hope we can go back to our original friendship. I mean, I know things like that take time, but maybe over time..

Theo smiled back. “You’re my best friend Daph. You know I’ll always be here for you.” They stayed put like that for a while, in silence. He decided to bring up Pansy again. “What exactly happened in your fight?”

Daphne was surprised at Theo’s persistence on the Pansy subject. She frowned but decided to tell him about it. “Well she came into my room while I was reading, and drinking. She seemed surprised that I had some champagne-“

Theo interrupted her. “You had champagne? From where?”

She scowled, although he couldn’t see her. “I’ve had it, I just don’t drink it too often. Why is everyone so surprised? You saw me drunk the other night.”

Theo had to chuckle. “That’s true. I’m sorry. Go on with your story please.”

Daphne sighed and continued. “So she comes in and asks how I am and all that. And you know I felt totally guilty about not telling her. My conscience is just like that. I mean, I just felt obliged to tell her. I mean, if anything ever does happen again, I already learned my lesson from before, but still… you know how I am. But I didn’t tell her exactly. She asked what had happened between me and him on Friday and I looked at her and I had to tell her. I mean, at the time, I didn’t think it was that big of a deal, but she made it into a big deal.” She sighed again. “And then she stormed off and ended her friendship with Draco because she felt we both betrayed her.” She turned to face him in his arms, her eyes shining. “Theo, do you think it was a big deal that I slept with him? I mean, I was stupid to tell her, but still… do you?”

Theo took in all the information and struggled with what to tell her. The honest truth was… he wasn’t sure. He looked into her eyes, saw her pain, and answered her truthfully. “Honestly, I don’t know, I mean, people in here do it all the time, but maybe Pansy felt you betrayed her because you both were supposed to be her best friends, the two people she could trust most in the world. Or maybe it goes deeper. Maybe it’s something with her and Draco.” He shrugged. “We will never know, unless she tells you.”

“And if she tells you?” Daphne pressed. “Would you tell me what she said?”

Theo closed his eyes, taking one hand off Daphne waist to place it on his forehead. He opened them again and looked at her. “If she told me something in confidence Daph, I couldn’t tell you. I don’t do things like that, take sides. It’s something you need to hear, not have me telling you on the side.” He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear in an affectionate gesture, but she turned away from his touch, obviously hurt. “Daph, don’t be like that. You know I try and stay neutral. It’s not right for me to be sneaking around, telling you information that you shouldn’t hear from me.” He frowned and sighed. Only Daphne, a woman in his life he deeply cared for, could make him internally struggle with his usual nature, which was to stay neutral, or to just tell her everything he knew. His final decision was to just stay neutral, no matter how much it hurt her, she needed to learn information directly from the people involved. Theo was just the on the side, the one Daphne went to after everything went down.

“You’re too good Theo,” she said finally. “Always have to stay neutral, not willing to give up information, in fear that you’ll get involved. Guess what Theo? You’re going to get involved eventually. Everyone does. It’s not your choice. The people we associate with in this house, they cause drama.”

“Daph, don’t speak like that about everyone. You are just as much as a cause to the drama, as say Pansy is. You caused drama telling Pansy that you slept with Draco. What did you hope to accomplish by doing that?”

Daphne responded by flinging Theo’s arms off her and getting up off the bed. This was ridiculous. Theo was… right. She went over to the bathroom and closed the door, locking it. Once she got over the state that the bathroom was in, she managed to clear some stuff off so she could sit on top of the sink.

Theo was used to Daphne’s little tantrums. She knew he was right and that’s why she had locked herself in the bathroom. He just hoped she wasn’t too offended. It wasn’t the cleanest, but no one really got around to cleaning it up. He went to the bottom of his bed, opening up his trunk and getting out some homework to work on while she sat in there.

15 minutes later, Daphne emerged from the bathroom, makeup redone, hair tousled sexily. She looked at Theo, who was sitting Indian style, chewing on his quill as he finished up homework that looked suspiciously like Arithmancy. She went over and seated herself in his lap, leaning up against his chest and looking at his homework. He reached around her and began to write. “The meaning of this series of numbers is Pansy… She snatched it from him and looked at it, frowning. “The meaning of this series of numbers is Pansy??” she read out loud. Then it dawned on her. “You like her don’t you?” She received silence in response. She glowered triumphantly. She knew it. That’s why he had been so interested in her fight. Not just to hear about her… to hear about Pansy.

Theo snatched the parchment from her and scribbled the last word out. He didn’t say anything about her proclamation on his possible feelings toward Pansy. She knew what that meant of course. Yes. He didn’t bring the subject up. He was in the mood for a snog. Putting down his homework, he laced both his fingers with hers and moved her hair to the side, lightly kissing her neck. She also knew what that meant.

Daphne giggled as Theo kissed the back of her neck. The subject was closed. He fancied Pansy! Merlin, that was funny. She turned around in his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling his face in for a proper snog. That was just how their relationship was. They could have a total makeout session like this at one moment, and be acting like best friends at the next. It was a nice relationship to have.

20 minutes later, Theo and Daphne, laid out on his bed, papers strewn everywhere, finally stopped for a breath. He pushed her hair out of her face again, which had become very disheveled thanks to his handy hands. Pulling her in close, he buried his face in her neck. “I fancy Pansy,” he said against her skin.

She smiled and snuggled closer to him. “Glad you admitted it.” She stroked his hair. “I still love Blaise, you know.”

The words hit Theo. Guilt flooded through him. He knew about Blaise and Pansy and she didn’t. “I really think you need to talk to Pansy,” was the best thing he could tell her. He couldn’t even hint at knowing.

Daphne narrowed her eyes suspiciously and pulled his face up, looking at him. “Is there something you’re not telling me?” She received silence in response. Theo just buried his face back in her neck and began to kiss her there. She stopped him again. “Theo…”

Theo sighed in frustration. “You know where I told you I had to stay neutral, I still stand at that, and there’s nothing you can do to change that.” He finally pulled her on top of him, admiring how smooth the skin of her neck was. How Zabini didn’t want this is what puzzles me. Daphne is a gorgeous creature. “Daph, who liked Zabini first, you or Pansy?”

Daphne shrugged. “I honestly don’t know. I remember her telling her that I kind of liked him and she told me that she had feelings for him too, so I suppose we started liking him at the same time.”

Theo was silent. He tended to do that a lot, just lapse into silence. “Play for me?” he implored.

“Piano?” Daphne asked, obviously confused. Theo nodded. “Alright.” She got up off the bed, smoothing her hair out and holding her hand out to him as he got up off the bed. He took it and laced his fingers through hers. They left the dorms, in route to the Room of Requirement.
