Spring 3 begins with the Blythe family
Hello fellow simmers! I hope you're all having (or had, if you're reading this later) a good, relaxing Sunday.
It's time to begin a new rotation in Clover Point, but before that, don't forget to check out the Family Guide and Overview :) It's the very first post on my journal, always.
So, we're back with the Blythes. Last time, Emma got engaged to Damion Buckingham and finally got pregnant after 8 tries. We also got 4 useless friendly kittens. Things went well at both businesses, Furry Friends and Dance Fever. And that's about it, really.
That's the family! Back: Damion and Hayden. On the couch: pregnant Emma and Elisabeth.
Oh! But before we begin, I have to tell you that adding the Moning household last time allowed me to build a new unowned community lot. I chose to build a museum, to unlock the Adventure career for Hugo Rice, who really wants to become a Space Pirate now that he's an All Star Player.
So, here's the Clover Point Museum of Art:
I didn't create it, sadly I'm not this good. I took it from modthesims, it's originally the public library, by vwsr2cool, in the Downtown Series. I only changed the inside to make it a museum.
Now, on with the Blythes! :)
Elisabeth shows us that she may be an old lady now, but she still can handle a broken bathtub and show us her great tush in the process ;)
Emma's constantly hungry, so she decided to make some sparkly food to help her cravings.
As for Damion, he's looking for a job... any job, really. He didn't have luck this time.
So, instead, he decided to head over to Furry Friends with Em.
Emma made good sales, chatted with her sister-in-law...
... and then, suddenly, it seemed like every customer wanted to pay. All at once!
Poor Damion and the employee couldn't handle so much pressure. Bags got thrown on the floor, stars were lost... and Emma got exhausted trying to entertain patrons so they wouldn't feel neglected.
All in all, it was not a very succesful run at the store for the couple...
Oh, look. A kitten grew into an Apricot look-a-like. How exciting... *rolls eyes*
"I'm telling you, Mom, it was a disaster! People were almost shouting at us and they left everything lying on the floor."
"Well, I guess it's logical, honey. Don't take this the wrong way, but in your state, you should be resting, not running around in a store."
"Thank you, Mrs. Blythe. That's what I've been telling her all..."
"Oh, Damion, not to insult you either, but I think your lack of experience didn't help..."
"I guess you're right."
"Emma, honey, what about your father and I take over the store until you give birth?"
"... Em?"
Emma was so relieved that she felt all the tension lift and she fell asleep in her plate.
Hayden chuckled. "I guess we'll take that as a yes!"
"I'll bring her into our room."
"Thanks, Damion."
Look, two cats playing... a rare sight in this house. This is so boring exciting!
And so, as promised, Hayden and Elisabeth opened the store. They couldn't believe the state it was in. Almost every shelf was empty, so Hayden made sure to fill them up before opening.
And Elisabeth took care of cleaning the rest up.
When they opened, they both made good sales and their cash register saviness kept customers happy.
Elisabeth got her gold sales badge, her silver cash register badge and her bronze restocking badge. As for Hayden, he got his bronze cash register badge.
And you know what? Mallory London gave Furry Friends its last needed star! The store is now rank 10 :)
"Come here, you! What a team we make, huh?"
"We certainly do, Hayden. You know, I've been very happy with you."
"Why are you talking like it's over? We have plenty of happy years ahead."
"Yes, you're right. I just feel a bit tired, is all."
"Well, let's go back home and celebrate. I know exactly how."
Back home, the last kitten, Dough, grew into a look-a-like of Biscuit.
See what I said ealier about play time being a rarity for the cats? Well, that's because they're ALWAYS fighting. Seriously. I stopped taking picture of all the fights after the second one, because this chapter would have only been clouds of dust flying...
After catching some much needed rest, Hayden called his grand-daughter Scarlett and they discussed the arrival of Spring.
"No, no, sweetheart. There should not be anymore snow storms until next year. What's that? Oh! Haha! Sure!"
Our founder spent time blogging about arts & crafts, lost in the Zone.
Hayden took the opportunity to open up Dance Fever, where there's a new DJ, Griff Seifert.
As always, the club earned a few more stars, since everyone was having a blast...
... except for MacKayla who kept arguing with this dude. Don't know why really... Maybe he said something about her children?
Back home, Elisabeth told Emma the good news.
"So, we finally got the last approval and your store is more popular than ever."
"Oh, thank you so much Mom, Dad. I don't know what I would do without you."
"Did you hear, Damion? My parents made Furry Friends a real success!"
"Yeah, you're dad told me. It's great! But don't forget that you deserve a lot of the credit, too, Em."
Damion always know what to say to make Emma happy. They shared a passionate kiss.
And then, he went to clean the litter, since Emma can't.
None of them has rolled the want to get married yet, so they'll stay engaged for now.
Emma ate a delicious grilled cheese...
... while Elisabeth repaired the stereo.
Suddenly, Emma felt pain in her back and in her stomach.
"Mom! Damion! Haaaa! I think the baby's coming!"
"Oh, my! Okay, I'm right here honey! You can do this!"
Please meet Dorothy Blythe, the brand new member of this BaCC! :)
Dorothy is named after the main character inthe classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, from L. Frank Baum. She has her grand-father's skin tone and brown eyes and her mother's black hair.
"Woo! Go Dorothy! Wooooo!"
Damion is really excited to become a father, apparently.
After helping Emma with her new daughter, Elisabeth went back to her painting.
And Emma decided to repair the broken computer.
Damion rushed in as soon as he heard a weird cracking noise.
"Em! Oh! Are you alright?!? Em!"
"I... don't... know!!! Heeee!"
In the end, she was but it did tire her out.
Since Emma was tyring to recover from her electrocution, Damion didn't mind being the one changing Dorothy's diaper.
Elisabeth lives a life of leisure since retirement. She's deserved it, really!
Oh no!!! A second electrocution in the SAME day for Emma! Oh well... she survived and got us a second position opened in the Science career...
"I know you've had a hard day, Emma, but I think I know just the way to make you feel better..."
"Oh, do you, now? Why don't you show me?"
"With pleasure!"
Meanwhile, in the very next room, Death chose to come and get Elisabeth in the most inconvenient place EVER. Argh!!
Seriously! A part of me was super sad to see Elisabeth go, but the other part was just cracking up at the location...
See? The Hula girls had to stay outside, there just wasn't any ROOM. *sigh*
Anyways... it seemed like it was time... :(
So, Elisabeth Blythe, Clover Point's founder, died at age 73. She reached her LTW of becoming a Professional Party Guest, as well as giving birth to three children and giving this town a great foundation. She leaves behind her partner, Hayden, nine grand-children and many, many friends.
Elisabeth, you will be missed.
Hayden found it very hard to lose the woman he'd spent most of his life with. At least, the inheritance helped cushion the blow...
Hayden also took comfort in the presence of a new baby in the house. It felt like life was completing its circle.
"You would've love your grand-mother, Dorothy. She was just the best. It's too bad she left before getting a chance to really know you..."
Emma also took the news badly. She missed her mother terribly. But more than that, she felt guilty... She and Damion had been... ahem... cuddling... while her mother was passing. She didn't even get a chance to say a proper goodbye.
She felt sick with guilt and grief and had to run to the toilet.
Damion was also saddened by Elisabeth's departure, but he was being more practical. Elisabeth was the only one bringing an income in and since she wasn't there anymore, it meant he would have to take her place. He looked for a job and luckily, there was an open position in the business career. He took it immediately.
"Hey Bastian, it's good of you to come over. I'll let Hayden know you're here."
"Hi Dad."
"Son! Oh, I'm so glad to see you."
"How are you holding up?"
"Oh, I'm fine, I'm fine. I miss her, but taking care of Dorothy helps. Why don't you come in?"
Bastian spent the day with his family and just like old time, Emma and him spent a good amount of time playing red hands. It was good to laugh again.
Thankfully, Damion was there to take care of the little daily tasks.
They all sat down to eat together.
"Won't Ivy wonder where you are?"
"She knows, Dad. She would've come, too, but the kids need someone to look after them."
"Bastian, we'll have to make sure to introduce your Harry to our Dorothy. They're almost the same age, they can play together."
"Great idea, sis!"
As she was eating, Emma felt her stomach rumbling and just like that, she popped! Yes, she got pregnant on the first try this time ;)
She was relieved to realize where her sickness actually came from.
As she laid in Damion's arms that night, she felt a great peace wash over her. Even with her mother gone, her life was still good and she was blessed.
(That's right, Emma got permaplat while sleeping, lucky girl.)
The next day, friends and family members came over for Dorothy's birthday.
"I think someone's prepared a smelly gift!"
"Here, let me take her, Mac. Yes, baby girl, let's get you changed before blowing your candles."
Everyone cheered as Damion held his daughter.
And here's little Dorothy, all grown up! She definitely has Damion's lips and Emma's nose.
Dorothy's a Scorpio (10/3/9/3/1).
After putting his daughter to bed, Damion sat to chat with MacKayla and Primrose.
As Emma got up from her nap with her second pop.
I Damion didn't really like Dotty's clothes so he went to buy her some new ones.
That night, as he was getting ready for bed, Hayden felt a presence in the room...
But when he turned around, there was only the cat, sleeping.
"That's strange... I couldl've sworn..."
But went he turned around...
"BOO!"
"AAHHH!!"
Hayden didn't feel tired anymore, so he went to Dance Fever, where his good friend Crystal Grey set him up on a blind date with Maura Jalowitz.
They spent a good part of the evening dancing together and Hayden slowly realized that Maura was exactly his type of woman. Maybe she could help him move on from Elisabeth?
"You know, Maura, you're really beautiful."
"Gee, thanks, Hayden."
"Would you mind terrible if an old man like me kissed you?"
"Why don't you try? We'll see..."
Turned out she didn't mind at all ;)
We might get Hayden a new woohoo partner, people!
Back home, Hayden spent time teaching Dorothy how to walk, while Damion practice at the piano.
Emma was the one who got the glorious task of potty training Dotty.
Here we have Damion leaving for his first day of work.
And later that day, Hayden invited Maura over. She gladly accepted and it wasn't long until they were cuddling in bed.
And yes, Hayden got another notch on his belt! He's not too far from joining Elisabeth, though, so it might be his last... I hope he enjoyed it!
