so.. i made it to seattle ok.
ended up leaving at 6pm on friday night. drove straight up to sacramento, got there at like 2am, stayed the night in some shitty ghetto hotel in downtown sac. slept until 10am this morning. drove straight up to seattle today, just got here like an hour ago. i didnt end up leaving sacramento/woodland until 12:30. 8 hours + 11 hours = 19hours/1348miles = 70mph overall. including gas/food/pee breaks. pretty good i'd say.
truck ran like a dream. that thing can haul ass. it had 48miles on the new engine when i left san diego. it got broken in on the drive up to sacramento (about 500 miles away), just in case some of you don't know.. when you build a new engine, for the first 500 miles, you aren't supposed to stay the same speed, it's best for the motor if you constantly vary RPM's. needless to say, this sucks for freeway driving. which sucked.. i kept slowing down, speeding up, slowing down, speeding up... FOR 8 HOURS. dammit.
changed the oil in some random buildings parking lot in woodland (outside sacramento). and called it officially broken in. it still needs a few minor things, there's a leak in the oil-pan seal, it leaves a decent puddle of oil whereever i park for more than 2 hours. and there seems to be a boost leak (not a vacuum leak, but simmilar in concept) somewhere, still haven't tracked that down. the speedometer doesn't want to work either, which is a bit of a pain, as the cops in seattle are a bitch, and will nail you for like 5 over on the freeways. nothing major, just minor annoyances.
drive was pretty uneventful, no real 'rain'. some parts where the windshield and roadways were a little wet, but mostly just from fog, and general wetness, just a little bit of drizzle at most. I got out of my truck up here in seattle, and i swear it's warmer here now, than it's been at night in san diego the past week. although within 10 minutes of me ariving, it was raining outside. yay! nice seattle welcome.
i'm still going to keep my same cell-phone number for a little while, so, anyone feel free to call and bother me
