So I guess i'll update this thing on recent life happenings...
Seattle trip was cool, got back last week Wednesday. Stayed at my sisters house on monday, and then my aunts house in the bay area on tuesday night. ride back was long and a little boring, but not too bad. My bug is starting to have a few problems, i've got a knocking in the front suspension somewhere, probably just a loose ball-joint, but i haven't figured it out yet. don't really have the $$ to fix it yet. and i think my fuel pump maybe going out on me, but i'm not sure, it runs ok, just has a hard time starting when really warm. other than that, the bug drove fine. I'm kind of suprised it made it all the way back to and from Seattle ok. the whole trip was close to 3000 miles.
Other happenings in Seattle:
Got kicked out/cut off at 2 bars in 4 hours. that was fun. Went to the red hook brewery for a tour, got a bunch of samples for $1, cool tour, chatted with the cute girl who gave the tour, turns out she is moving down to San Diego in a few months. got her email and phone number :) went down to the pub, got some food, hung out for a while, had some more beer, met this couple at the bar in the pub, they seemed pretty cool, somewhere in there our conversation got a little vulgar, and the waitress told us to keep it down. 15 mins later, the conversation got a little rough again, and she told us that was it, to pay for our tabs, and they wouldn't serve us anymore. sweet! somewhere in there, the girl started flirting with me, which was funny, and the guy didn't really care, he didn't seem like he wasn't really interested in this girl anyway. she was a bit older, and not that attractive, but it was fun anyway.
So we left and went to some random hole-in-the-wall dive bar down the street. interesting place, it consisted entirely of mid-40 yr old men. it looked like they hadn't seen anyone under 30 in years, and certainly not a girl. again, similar story, me and the dude were talking, the girl was playing darts with the old men. The bartender girl had told us to watch the language once (i think the dude said shit somewhat loud), and we were a big taken back, because i mean.. it was a bar. and there were old people, it's not like there was 10 year old kids running around, and it's a fucking BAR. whatever.. so about 20 minutes later, she told us they wouldn't serve us anymore alcohol, and that we "aren't really suited for this place" and that we "should maybe find somewhere else to go". ?????? wow.. got kicked out, and went home. and this was all before 5pm.
Later that night I went out to the Sunset tavern over in ballard, and saw The Hot Rollers, and Gloryhole play, it was pretty cool, good bands. the Hot rollers were this cool all-girl rock band, reminded me of The Breeders/Pixies, with a little bit of 50'sish surf rock/'beach blanket bingo' going on. it was good to know there was a decent music scene in seattle that isn't 18yr old indie kids. mostly 25-30 semi-hip, old punker style. lots of cute girls running around. i was impressed.
that was most of the real exciting part of seattle. Also went on a few bike rides, got muddy, drove around with my mom on Bremmerton island in puget sound, pretty sights, lots of trees. it was neat. Wandered around this neat old cemetary with all these old tombstones from the early 1900's. some as far back as 1880.
