I stand there waiting
In the rain, by the corner
The same one as always
Waiting for someone,
That I know won't ever come
Something about that park,
Reminds me of that I had
A lifetime ago
And an age gone by
Left to wonder, when the world died
When it went to hell and back
Once or twice..
Kryptonite to ease the pain,
And an elegy for the darkness..
Someone told me, a long time ago
About a story half forgotten,
Of a dream I never saw
And a world I only lived in
And it seemed crystal clear at the time
That maybe I alone, could be like Superman
Like in the old comics
Stuffed away in a box
And left to the dust
Maybe I'll see you again,
When the clouds have lifted
And the smog is all gone
But the dying skies are calling
And I won't turn back just yet..
Left to go sightseeing,
Staring at the scortched corpses and steel beams
Scyscrapers left to the ashes..
With Kryptonite to ease the pain,
And an elegy for the darkness..
