actually my best friend cla already had her wedding some years back (around 2006, i think?) but it took some more years before the next barkada wedding happened.
and they said all things happens in threes.
this year, carol, ria, and jen all said their "i do's" in ways which were their own.
carol and chris tied the knot in january this year, starting off the 'year of weddings'. well, we had to have a very different type of bachelorette first (in which i was obliged by the bride to take a leave the day after.... note i filed this leave months in advance, so no integrity issue here). you see, carol is based in the us now. her friends all came over to support her and ring out her singlehood 'with a bang' and so they did. it was one fun night... and another fun ceremony that weekend after. let's just say, i woke up surprised i was home already. must've been a party.
after a 2-month stint in europe, i come home just in time for ria's bridal shower and wedding. again, my friends and i went through a very bonding ordeal as we celebrated her last moments of singlehood, while equally satisfying our shopping urges at vanita. ria and jay had a morning wedding, which i think was just so her! haha! the wedding was very intimate, i must say, as the settings she chose had that close-to-you feel. since most of us were night owls and the wedding ended pretty early, we launched into some ATM shoots, changed to our casuals and actually caught 'iron man2' on cinema. ya, we're a weird (but fun) bunch.
just last weekend, we rounded up the wedding year with jen & joel's long-awaited nuptials. i'd say that among the barkada weddings, it was hers where i felt i was really, really involved. i think it's because debs was the wedding planner in this one, and we all showed our support in helping out any way we can. my mom made mine, gene, jas, lynne and mia (of course, that was shameless plugging right THERE) so we spent a lot of time together going over designs and fitting. in between that, there were shoots and practices. there were also a lot of brainstorming for the right song, the right color, etc. etc. the result: it was one of the more personal weddings i've attended by far. it was also one of the more memorable after-parties i've attended. apparently, it was the same mobile bar that carol had hired at her wedding....
to carol, ria, jen: congratulations and best wishes on your new status on facebook (and on other legal documents)! i am so happy to see you off to your married lives! and ya, when it's my turn, remember to tell my groom not to sing to me. that is just so baduy, haha!
2010 was love, love, love. <3
