Finally - an update!!
It's been a while since any update, and life right now is nothing short of being uber uber uber busy !!!
Another semester has come and almost gone... so that means finals are right around the corner. Luckily, my Civ. Pro. II final is the first up so that will be good -- get the jinxed subject over with first ! The first week is Civ. Pro and Property I (not too bad) THEN the second week is Contracts II, Criminal Law, and Constitutional Law I -- all the same week in the MWF schedule. THAT will be a hard week.
Anyways, aside from exams has been the Fornoff Oral Argument Competition. After my oral argument of my appellate brief, I actually signed up for the competition. Luckily, the spring round is more going through the motions and procedures but without actual scoring and elimination -- that's reserved for the fall rounds.
Anyways, last Thursday was my 1st Round of argument and I did a lot better than I had anticipated --- I WON !!!!!
Round 2 is tomorrow and will be harder just because I'll be arguing off-brief (aka. taking the opposite position as I had originally). As if being off-brief isn't bad enough, my argument is at 7am!! Thank goodness I live so close to school!
Speaking of living --- in the last month I've made new friends... branched out a little more and actually went out for the first time in a loooong time -- and twice in the same week no less!! I told Stephen he was a corrupting influence :-) Tuesday night was $0.25 hot wings and $2 draft beer... then that Friday there was a graduate student dinner at Aladdin (a middle-eastern restaurant) so we went and I got to enjoy some authentic foods :-) A lot of our friends came as well (and we even made and met some new friends) and after the dinner we went bar-hopping ... literally. After a few drinks at bar 1 we decided to go elsewhere, but most every bar we went to had a cover (but no band) so we kept moving from bar to bar in search of one without a cover charge and finally found one closer to school. Those were definitely the best draft beers in who knows how long!
Anyways, that was the last "night out" until finals are over, BUT as soon as finals are done on Fri. May 4th, I think there's a plan in place for all of us to go out again and REALLY celebrate ;-)
So... there's been a lot of fun this past month... most coming from getting to know some new people, but now it's really serious, crunch-time... at least until 5pm on May 4th :-)
Other than all that, not much going on here.... there's fall registration Friday... and I have to sign my lease renewal (yes, I'm keeping my same place!!)...and other than that, I have to study my butt off!!
Guess I better run for now and finish watching this Property I tape... I still have to finish putting together my oral argument for tomorrow morning -- though I'm not too stressed about it because I've already won (and in the first round no less) so I know I'm capable... which was the biggest thing for me to get out of this. Speaking of which... this whole oral argument thing... it's like heroin -- the more I do it, the more I want to do it!! Who woulda thought?? Looks like my quiet reserved shell is breaking! Here's the real shocker -- right now I'm mostly freaked about finals because I want a GPA that allows me to try out for Moot Court !!
