Well as it is Thanksgiving, I suppose it would be time to reflect on what I am thankful for. So in no particular order here are just a few things that I am blessed to have going on in my life....
My family. I really love my family- they're so great. No really, I do totally love my family! I know so many people that can't stand their families, and I feel a little sorry for them. I am so fortunate to have a loving and supportive family that I know will always be there for me no matter what. It's good to have a cheering section like them.
My friends. Just looking at all the birthday wishes I had posted on my facebook wall made me aware of how many wonderful friends I have in my life. Whether they are from my time in Illinois, Michigan or Indiana, and whether I see them often or hardly at all, they are there and they love me. And I love all of them. I wish I was able to see them all more, but I am grateful that there is things like facebook and live journal to help me keep in touch with all of them.
Amanda, Adam, Jessica, Phil and Glen. My own little grad school support group. Without these folks I don't know if I would have made it through this first semester. (or if I could even think about getting through the next 5!)
Food. Both having enough to eat and more recently being able to eat it. I am not living off rice, for that I am exceedingly grateful. And I have to ability to make sure others eat, I'm thankful for that too.
My van. It keeps me mobile and gives me the ability to get both where I need and I want to go. It's nothing fancy, but it keeps running- and even has heat again! I know that I am fortunate to have a vehicle, not everyone is so lucky.
Health insurance. Not everyone has this and I am so very grateful that I do. I have been able to try and take care of myself because I don't have to worry about going completely broke if I go to a doctor. It was fantastic to be able to do physical therapy and improve my knees, and to be able to go to CAPS at school and get the help I need there as well.
My apartment. It isn't much. It's kinda small (ok it's REALLY small). My roommate is a little annoying. And I don't see it as much as I would like. But it's mine. I have a safe, warm place to call my own. For that I am thankful.
