Our weekend was pretty typical for these days, which means that we managed to get the necessary stuff done but that that wiped me out for doing real actual weekend fun stuff.
This article about someone who has lupus is a pretty good indication of what my life is like these days, minus the pain. I have enough energy to do the bare minimum, but just doing that much exhausts me to the point where I don't have anything left. I can manage one outing per day, pretty much.
So, on Friday night
dantesdad got home a bit after 6. Dante had been asking all day if we could go to "the pancake house" (IHoP, which Steve had told him about the previous weekend) so we got ourselves together and went out for dinner. We all had breakfast food though -- after all, that's what IHoP is about! Dante had a pretty good night as far as going to bed at a not too insane hour went, then
dantesdad and I had a nice evening together and stayed up way too late. I think we went to sleep at about 1 am.
Saturday morning was the required weekly grocery shopping trip, started off at the Dollar Store near the supermarket. We told Dante he could pick out one toy, and
dantesdad was looking for a cable splitter. Alas, no splitter, but I did get a couple of greeting cards and Dante got a small drawing set with markers (hope we don't end up regretting that purchase, LOL!) Then we did the grocery shopping and made it home in time to make and eat lunch.
After lunch,
dantesdad went out to buy a splitter elsewhere, and Dante and I read through the books we'd gotten at the library earlier in the week. Later that afternoon, I managed to sneak in a 1 hour nap while Dante and Steve spent some time in the backyard. We had dinner (it's proof of my sad lack of brain power these days that I can't remember what it was) and put Dante to bed, then Steve worked on installing the cable power to the little tv he's got over his computer.
Sunday was Father's Day -- I'd meant to have Dante draw a card for Steve, but that didn't end up happening. Dante did give his daddy a small package of maple sugar candy that I'd helped him pick out. We had cinnamon rolls for breakfast and mmmm coffee, then took a trip to Borders, a not-uncommon Sunday morning activity for us. (For a while we were calling it "going to church" because, well, Sunday morning ritual, but we've stopped calling it that in front of Dante because we don't want to confuse him.)
dantesdad and Dante each bought a book. We went to the grocery store next to Borders and bought "fun food" for lunch -- hot wings for Steve and a kid's tv dinner type thing for Dante, as well as ice cream -- went home, had lunch. In the afternoon, Steve and Dante went to the park and to Friendly's for two hours, giving me some blissfully quiet at-home time in which I should have been writing but instead alternately started dinner and stared blankly at the computer screen. I haven't written much in the past few weeks -- I've just been too wiped out physically to manage the mental energy, which really sucks. The boys came home in time to watch the baseball game, and we ended up making rice (out of the wrong sort of rice, but it tasted fine) and
dantesdad made indian bread to go with our curry. Yum!
I think I need to start finding more recipes that I can work on earlier in the day (the curry was a good one, since I could make it and then put it in the crock pot to finish out its cooking) so that I'm a bit less exhausted when
dantesdad gets home. I also think I need to start considering doing the grocery shopping during the week when I can (and asking Steve to pick up the odd item on his way home) so that on the weekend we won't have to and I might actually have enough energy to manage fun trips instead of being knocked flat by the necessities.
