Camping Trip Disaster

So I woke up this week and said to my husband:  Wouldnt it be nice if we got to see Perseid Meteor Shower. He said sure honey.... so i do my research online and read about Dark Skies parks, which are parks free of light pollution where u can see the stars with the naked eye.

The Dark skies park we headed to is Cherry Springs State Park, in PA. It turned out that the park was about 5 hours away but according to their web site the view of the night sky was mesmerizing.  So we decidced to go, we figured it would be like an adventure. So on Friday we headed out towards Cherry Springs.

This is a picture of what one may see. Well, we did not see that at all. Turns out that if you go on a night with a full moon you see SQUAT.

Also, if you make the 5 hour drive with an 18 month year old, they will not be afraid to cry half of the drive and remind you of their dislike of being in a car seat. Said 18 month year old will also let you know that she does not like camping.

We didnt get to see the meteor shower, hell we didnt even get to see any stars. But we gave it our best.

On Saturday we figured we check out the area and head home. Though we did not get to see stars, we did see some amazing views in PA. We stoped at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.

I present to you:  "Pine Creek Gorge, called the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. Located at opposite sides of Leonard Harrison and Colton Point state parks.

I would of taken pictures of us with this spectacular view in the background but at this point in time my daugther was trying to jump into the canyon. Yup, not good.

And since we made the little one suffer through this trip, in her honor we stoped in some small animal petting zoo place and I am happy to report she had a blast.

It was fun, a little creepy place in the middle of nowheres PA but fun, and it gave the little one a chance to run around and strech her leggys before our 5 hour drive back.

So now, at 11:49 pm I am now trying to read and catch up on everyone's LJ.

Oh and MORAL OF THE STORY:   Make sure you go on a five hour drive to see a meteor shower when the moon IS NOT FULL and there are NO CLOUDS
