I remember when Meghan started raving about the fact that there was going to be a big-screen adaptation of Douglas Adam’s The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and thinking fan-girl. Unless someone else’s tastes nearly mirror mine, I have a tendency to dismiss any sort of suggestion given to me. I’m sure it’s the same for other people as well. Well, Mike comes home last Friday and tells me that the movie was alright. During the weekend Meg mentions that the movie was great, which was expected from a fan of the book. Today Little Chad mentioned that I shouldn’t waste my money on it, which was surprising since this movie seemed like it would’ve been something that he would like. After talking to Chad I began to wonder about bias when it comes to adaptations of works that we’ve enjoyed. I know I got annoyed when the reviewers on X-Play on G4 gave the The Punisher game a 3 out of 5. I believed it to be a very fun experience, but perhaps my perceptions of the game were enhanced by the fact that I loved the character? Enough wasted time in typing and thought over what you all probably believe as something that’s a given in life.
