And when there's nowhere else to run...

Things I Did This Weekend:

1. I finally finished A Game of Thrones. As in the first book. I am a terribly slow reader (mostly because I spend all my time on the internet talking about the things I'm reading instead of actually reading). I need to finish the second book before the new season starts. As luck would have it, the second book is about 400 pages longer than the first. So. Challenge accepted.

2. I GOT A PUPPY. He is a tiny Golden Retriever puppy named Mr. Dashwood Bennet, and he's pretty much the most adorable thing in the known universe. We got him today, and he has settled into our house very nicely so far. Our older dog is fascinated by him. It is all ridiculously cute.

3. I ran my very first half-marathon today! The race was in Disneyland. We actually ran through Disneyland. It was completely awesome. It was the Inaugural Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon, because I am a ridiculous person. I've learned in my 6 months of semi-training that I apparently have knee problems, so I wasn't entirely surprised when my knees pretty much shut down around the 10-mile mark, but nonetheless I finished in about 2 hours and 51 minutes. So overall I'd say it went pretty well for my very first long-distance run. Below is a photo to serve as proof that people really do these ridiculous things to themselves:

So it's been a rather eventful weekend. We went to Disneyland on Friday afternoon, so I spent most of the weekend being approximately 6 years old. It was a good time all around.

But I really need to stop going away for weekends. It's put me shamefully behind on all the delightful fandom events that have been happening. But since I've been awake since 4:30 this morning, tonight is probably not the night to catch up. I just need to get this constant stream of Disney songs out of my head, lest they lead to some rather trippy dreams. Til tomorrow, flisties!

ETA: Pictures you want? PICTURES YOU SHALL HAVE. Behold, my brand new puppy:

And him asleep on my dad:

Basically, I am obsessed with him.

baby we were born to run, sometimes i do things i don't have to do, i'd read books faster if i read less fic
