Because I guess I am trying to remind myself what I even like to write?
These really are not in any kind of order. Also I am feeling meta-y so there will be much rambling.
Top Five Ships Overall
1. Wes Taylor/Matt Doyle (Broadway RPS)
I feel like I kind of have to put this here, considering I wrote so much of it...but it's a bit dead? IDK, I will never stop being in love with them and I will never stop being sad listening to Lucky, because actually, but I'm not really active in shipping now, considering they've broken up. But for a while, god. They were the cutest thing in the universe.
2. Frederick Trumper/Anatoly Sergievsky (Chess)
Listen, okay, these two. First off - Adam Pascal and Josh Groban. Second off - Anyone who claims that the story of Chess is not about two sociopathic assholes who only can think in terms of moves on a chessboard squaring off against one another is completely wrong forever. I love this ship because it's the whole... they're the only ones who will ever understand one another, they're the only ones who can give each other what they want, they hate each other most when they fail one another (see: Freddie asking Anatoly to throw the match) and love each other most when they're challenged (see: Talking Chess). I just, I could watch the 2008 concert version over and over again and get more out of it every time.
(The other one - 2003? - is a whole different deal and is in my opinion actually about Florence being a sociopath and taking advantage of both Freddie and Anatoly in different ways. But then, a lot of lyrics and the whole plot is different.)
3. James T. Kirk/Spock (Star Trek: TOS and XI)
This one...it's a bit obvious. By which I mean, they have one of the most romantic stories ever told, and I don't have much more to add to it.
4. Jared Padalecki/Jensen Ackles (Supernatural RPS)
WELP, I've completely fallen out of this fandom, but I feel like it deserves this spot because it was what got me to join LJ in the first place (not that I ever want to go back and look at the first few fics I posted, oh god no) and it's got a sentimental place in my heart.
5. Akihiko Sanada/Shinjiro Aragaki
OKAY so listen. Ever since P3P came out I've been seeing so much FMC/Shinji everywhere, and that's...fine, I guess? Okay no not really. It kind of pisses me off, to be honest! One of the things that left the BIGGEST IMPRESSION on me when I played this game was the connection between these two, and playing The Answer has only strengthened that ("Looking back, I guess he did it for me..." ;____;). I really dislike the idea that Shinji came back to SEES ~for a girl, that you can ~save him with the power of love. I hate that he's cute and sincere with Minako. I hate that he's anything but an angry, bitter, incredibly fucked up and tragic asshole who has been in love with his stupid noble hero-complex-bearing boxer best friend for years, who knows that his kind of guilt has no place in Aki's world, that he's a villain, that he killed a poor boy's mother, that he's destined for a death on the streets. And poor fucking Aki! If Shinji's in love with a cute girl, where does that leave him? Especially after his death! Minako/Shinji lessens the incredible impact of the funeral scene, with Aki's strangled scream and the heartbreak that actually changed the shape of his soul. So. Yeah. I ship the fuck out of these two.
Top Five Love Triangles/Threesomes
1. Neal/Peter/El (White Collar)
Because they are all the cutest? And Peter and El clearly have an "except Neal Caffrey" clause in their marriage? And Neal advises Peter on what to do for his anniversary? And Peter and El worry about Neal constantly? And Neal trusts Peter more than he does anyone in the world? And also because they have this absolutely lovely dom/sub undertone to their relationship that other people have meta'd on before, better than I can, but. &hearts____♥
2. Wesley Taylor/Matt Doyle/Jonathan Groff (B'Way RPS)
With every shade of jealousy imaginable. Wop wop, written way too much of this.
3. Serph/Heat/Gale (Digital Devil Saga)
Especially with endgame spoilers. This one is much more a love triangle than a threesome, although. Well. Anyway! Heat/Serph, obviously, pretty fuckin' reciprocated (Heat's fucking death scene), and I ship Gale with everyone in the world, but he and Heat are especially lovely (he's always the one who steps forward). Plus, holy shit, his face in Serph's death scene, like he just doesn't know what to do with himself watching that.
4. Lupa/Gale/Roland (Digital Devil Saga)
Listen, I told you, I ship him with everyone! But if I'm honest, Lupa/Gale definitely my OTP for Gale. From the very first moment they set eyes on each other, to Gale's overwhelming respect for him, to Lupa's death, to Gale's interactions with Fred, to Lupa becoming one with him at the end, I just. Fuck, these twooo. And then Roland and Gale's fucked up, drunken, needy bond, and Roland missing human!Lupa so much it's heartbreaking...I just want the three of them to live together and raise Fred and be the best, okay ;____;
5. Jin/Takaya/Chidori (Persona 3)
This one's a bit fucked up! In that I ship Junpei/Chidori a lot, and that's Chidori getting out of her relationship with Jin and Takaya. It's also weird because I honestly don't think Takaya gives a shit about Chidori, not once he's seized by his religious fervor. (He still, however, gives such a shit about Jin it's not even funny. HIS LAST FUCKING WORD is him calling out, "Jin....!") But the three of them...they're like Akihiko/Shinji, in a way. They're the ones that survived. They're the ones, out of the dozens of fucked up, lab-rat orphans, that weren't killed by their own souls. They're the ones who have to live every day with horrible, crushing pain in order to harness some small bit of power, of control on the world around them, who watch the beautiful fucking heroes summon their personas with nothing but a wince and a word. They watch each other's backs. They keep each other safe. They're all they have.
Top Five Canon Pairings
1. Zeus/Ganymede (Greek Mythology)
Because really, how much more canon can you get? I could talk about these two all day, the prince-become-servant to the king of all kings. The shepherd-prince and the great storm. I just. I adore them. The beautiful boy that caught the eye of the biggest womanizer of all time. To me, they hold an equal sort of fascination for each other. Zeus is so caught by the boys beauty that rather than just bed him (like he does everyone else) he brings him home, where he can admire him to his contentment. And Ganymede has been in love with Zeus since he saw his first lightning strike.
2. Junpei/Chidori (Persona 3)
The love I have for these two...I really, really need to finish She Was a Beautiful Fiction, because I adore it and I had sweet plans for it. But the point is...Junpei is secretly one of my favorite characters of anything ever, and his character arc in this game is definitely one of my favorites forever, and a huge part of that is Chidori. I love her sketching him. I love his worry. I love all the scenes in the hospital where he tries so desperately to save her and she doesn't understand what that even means. I love his refusal to think anything bad of him, I love the way he reacts when she laughs. And I love, I love, her death scene, her sacrifice for him, and her final, beautiful gift of life. Every time Junpei uses Spring of Life I want to die. Buhhh everything about themmmm
3. Minato/Aigis (Persona 3 - IF YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED YET, I've got SMT games on the brain)
I would've pursued Aigis' social link to the very end even if she weren't as utterly delightful and incredible as she is, just because I love robot girls. But she IS delightful and she IS incredible. She's Minato's shield, literally. She'd protect him with her life, even after it turns out that he housed her greatest enemy for the entire time that they knew each other, that, in many ways, he was her greatest enemy. She fought for him. She fights for him even still, in the Answer. And in the end, she couldn't save him, but he drifted off smiling, head in her lap, her fingers threading sunshine through his hair. (Jesus Christ, do I have ANY happy ships? Or even any ships where both parties are ALIVE?)
4. Watson/Mary (Sherlock Holmes '09)
Don't get me wrong, I ship Sherlock and John like no other, but I absolutely bloody love Mary in the new film. Possibly this should be under threesomes but I'm lazy. I adore her. I ADORE her. From throwing her wine in Sherlock's face to utterly understanding them, she's kickass and amazing, and the only thing that could ever draw John from his Sherlock's side.
5. Mary/John (Supernatural, also this is why I called Watson Watson because otherwise...)
Ugh, I love them so much. Sometimes all I want to write is prequel fic about these two, about Mary's fucked up upbringing and the normalcy that John brought her, about her rise into the life she always wanted and then John's fall out of it after her death (Again! Everyone is dead!). Him hanging onto her memory in hell. I love John Winchester, he is close to being my favorite part of the show, and their relationship is just. Gorgeous.
Top Five Crossover Shippings
1. Alec Hardison/Lord Voldemort (Leverage/Harry Potter)
VOLDISON VOLDISON VOLDISON LOLOLOL
No, but fuck crossovers.
Top Five "Wtf, that makes no sense...but I love it anyway!" pairings
1.Matt Doyle/Robert Sheehan (RPS)
Honestly? This one's just for the hotness of it. That's not to say I don't think they'd hit it off if they ever met - I do. But goddamn it would be hot.
AIN'T GOT NO OTHER CRACK SHIPS
Top Five "I Just Don't Feel What Everyone Else Is Feeling"
1. Like I mentioned above, Minako/Shinji (Persona 3 Portable).
2. Kanji/Naoto (Persona 4)
KANJI IS GAY. It has been confirmed. Kanji is gay, and Naoto is a girl. And before you call "transphobe!" at me, Naoto is not a transsexual. Naoto is a girl who dressed like a guy in order to get a job. Yes, Kanji expressed attraction to her when they first met, because he thought she was a guy.
ALSO, not even counting that! I am totally fine with people falling in love out of their accepted sexualities (I mean, I ship slash pairings, and my own girlfriend is like 90% straight). But not only is Naoto not a guy, trans or not, she's an utter fucking sociopath. I could meta on that all day. Her character interpretation by the fandom as a WHOLE is something I don't understand at all, at all. And Kanji, while he has anger issues, is a nice guy! The nicest guy, actually! He sews shit for children! He's the best! I love him to death! She would chew him up and spit him out and move on without noticing! What the fuck you guys!
3. Anybody/Yosuke (Persona 4)
Okay, I admit, I started a Yosuke/Kanji fic once. But that was before I played the game again and realized what a homophobic, scary, batchit-crazy asshole Yosuke is. Actually though. He does everything he does just out of boredom. This is something that he admits on screen. He is ready to murder a man without second thought, and his actions toward Kanji in the camping scene are straight-up homophobic bullshit.
4. Akihiko/Mitsuru (Persona 3)
Eh. They're awesome as friends? But Akihiko is Shinji's, forever and ever. And Mitsuru is a fucking badass on her own (I'd say Yukari's but she's being such a bitch in The Answer).
5. Sam/Castiel (Supernatural)
Man, the last time I paid attention this was naught but a glimmer in Mishalanders' eyes. But. What the fuck, this is a legitimate thing? HOW?? Granted I have not watched the new season. But what the fuck, fandom? Sam hated Castiel. Sam was disappointed in Castiel for not being what he thinks an angel should be. Sam thought Castiel was a huge dick. And that's not even to fucking mention how Cas feels about him. There's so much antagonism there I don't know what to do about it, and not the fun, hatesex kind of antagonism, just pure disgust. SAM DRANK DEMON BLOOD AND SHACKED UP WITH A DEMON, FOR MONTHS, WHILE CASTIEL WAS FIGHTING HIS WAY THROUGH HELL TO SAVE DEAN. SAM BETRAYED DEAN, WHO IS, BY THE WAY, THE ONLY HUMAN CASTIEL CARES ABOUT. THE HUMAN HE FELL FOR, FIGURATIVELY AND LITERALLY. Please explain whatever the fuck this is because I do not understand anything.
