Episode Reaction - 5.01
Um. Wow. Season starts out with a bang. God? Really? That'll prove...interesting. And the vessel of Castiel is NOT pretty enough, I'm SORRY. But I think I'm alright with it, because I like who Lucifer IS, so far, with the whole using-the-truth-to-his/her own end.
So so so firstly: First thing that Dean worries about, besides that they're not dead: "We have to find Cas." AND HE USED THE SYMBOL THAT CASTIEL USED! THE ANGELS-AWAY ONE! And, oh this whole episode was so shippy.
For Dean/Sam, a little, too, though heart-breakingly rather than anything good. "I don't think we can be what we were"? Damn.
Not sure I like the magic addict!away for Sam, but...it looks like maybe it isn't as permanent as he might think, considering the Next Time On.
Next order of business: Bobby fucking Singer. Okay. Wow. At first I was like, "HELL YES GIVE IT TO HIM" when he was all "You were reckless and stupid and that's not something that gets forgiven" but when he got to "lose my number" I was like, "Really, Bobby?"
But at the same time I never called possession because it's gonna be a little tough to judge how in character everyone is for a while. It's like asking random people, "What would you do if someone you loved had caused the apocalypse?" Hell, I don't know. They don't know. No one knows how anyone is going to react, not for a little while.
But when Bobby stabbed himself with Ruby's knife, killing the demon inside him rather than kill Dean? THAT. THAT IS BOBBY. THAT IS BOBBY RIGHT THERE HOLY SHIT.
I love him so much.
Next! Castiel. And the fact that he apparently kept Uriel's angel-killing blade? Which, hello, couldn't they use that to kill Lucifer maybe? Talk to your angel, Dean. Your speech in the hospital room might just have been bullshit for Bobby's sake, but man...you could DO it. You're DEAN FUCKING WINCHESTER.
And Castiel was brought back by...forced unnamed which are heavily implied to be God Himself. Which is going to cause some trouble, both on and off screen. However, he's not broken, he's not even bent. He's standing tall and kicking ass and I like it.
Speaking of that speech! When I heard it I was like, "Oh please oh please oh please" because it sounded like Dean finally had some CONFIDENCE and it gave me HOPE and of course, this being Supernatural, immediately squandered it. The way that Sam's face changed when Dean said "I don't know if I can trust you...."
God. God I hope he got in the Impala, there at the end. Please, oh please, show. Don't break me like this.
