Best review of WALL-E I have ever, ever read.

And I am almost violently interested in seeing this Evangelista individual live.

they're touring, actually:

the picture on the background there is actually taken in the chapel. but you still can't get a sense of what it was like. i'd youtube them, but that won't do it either. carla bozulich originally released an album called evangelista back in 2006, i think. that's a good place to start. now she's calling the band by its name, and they have a new record that's a bit more conventional. she was also in the geraldine fibbers back in the 90's (a band i've never really checked out for some reason), and she collaborates with nels cline a lot. she's a total badass in person. one of the most dynamic performers i've ever seen, really.

god damn it! we're actually getting the xiu xiu/prurient part of that tour IN DEKALB between the New York and San Fran dates- but no Carla here. I can't believe she's not even playing Chicago. COLOR ME JEALOUS (still)

she tours a lot, i wouldn't sweat it. she's been through philly three times since the spring. she'll undoubtedly end up in chicago at least. it would be well worth a trip, even though i can't imagine there's a better setting to see her/them out there than this little chapel. she joked from the stage that it would be a shame if they got more popular, because they couldn't play there anymore. usually just folksy acoustic acts play in it.
