1)i'd do the capital group. just need some time to find the book here or
order it online...

2)oooh what are you teaching? man, i miss thrift stores. there is some taboo here about openly buying someone else's old stuff. annoying.

3)GREAT CHART! But VISUALS we need VISUALS. Can someone get Troy Swain on this?

4) my brother sent me a bunch of links to weird and good albums recently. here are a few. That Eugene Daniels is INSANE.

1. cool. not sure how to proceed with this. maybe i'll just post about it? or should i go to the trouble of setting up something seperate? i guess it depends on how many people are feelin' it.

2. i'm teaching a pre-college course on collage. it's pretty great.

3. yep, perfect troy material. too bad he's kneee deep in the bad foreign policies of yore...

4. adding "oufarkhan" to my google reader (which is awesome/addictive, if you don't use it).

5. i sorta worry i'm coming off too "childhood issue"-ish actually. but thanks!

1) well you're the teacher you should set up some kind of lesson plan structure or at least something so we all know where we are. i think a filter would be fine.

2) i hope you post more on the collage class. i don't know very much on it and i'd be keen to learn a lot more.

4) i have 200 subscriptions on my google reader. no shortage of ways to procrastinate.

5) i think the childhood issue is at least an interesting one and not like dealing with a messy divorce or something cliche' like that.

BONUS NUMBER 6) not for nothing, but i've been watching all the seasons of six feet under recently and in that video you reminded of the rico (head undertaker) character who i totally have a crush on.

1. when i'm about to begin, i'll make a note of it.

2. the class is for high school kids, so the material is pretty basic (picasso and duchamp were covered today). speaking of high school kids, there's a high school heavy metal band playing in the park next to my house right now, and old ladies are DANCING TO THEM like it's a fats domino record or something. i'm beginning to like my neighborhood more and more, for realz.

6. aww shucks lady.

1) OK. I'm off to troll around for a copy...
2) Ha ha which neighborhood is that. BTW, I was curious from that video, did you grow up in Pennsylvania or somewhere else?

fishtown is my neighborhood. lots of heavy metal in fishtown.

i grew up in the burbs, just outside of west philly. why? do i have/not have a philly accent?

i don't know what a philly accent sounds like!

except of course for from the one time i went to get a cheese steak and they had that guide on how to order...
"wit"
"widout"
"wiz"

Otherwise, though I've been there a few times, I didn't notice any big difference between Philly and New Jersey. My dad is from New Jersey so those actions just sound "normal" to me.

also, in terms of record geek-dom... danschank July 11 2008, 00:00:55 UTC
* i don't know that hugh masakela record, but i'm a big fan of one of his more afro-beat-ish ones called introducing hedzoleh soundz.

* that junior murvin record is one of my faves, and i love mid-seventies herbie, so i'll be sure to DL fat albert rotunda. supposedly the dude who was the inspiration for fat albert taught at my first high school. he was indeed fat and grew up with the cos. i doubt that's even what the title is referring to.

* have you been here? http://youandmeonajamboree.blogspot.com/ a good one!

There is really something special about waking up in the morning with a man called Barry Biggs. Something very very special.
