Yo I downloaded this beast at home and never got to hear it yet so on the soon tip I'll check it. But already you started the mix with my man and a song I used to hear as a kid. "Enquanto seu lobo nao vem" is from a children's song meaning "while Mr. wolf is not come". And Jorge Ben is in the house, illness!!! When you get a chance go to loronix.blogspot.com for lots of rare Brazilian records from ages past. And I just put a mp3 of a mix I made, only difference is my is undownloadable. I gotta redo that, peace, mate...

hey, that's great about the veloso song. it's actually a semi-rare one, from the tropicalia: bread and circuses comp with him, gil, costa, nara leao, etc. on it. that loronix site is fantastic. another good one-- more on the tropicalia tip i guess-- is brazilian nuggets:

sometimes i just DL stuff based on album artwork or people mentioned, since i can't read the text, hahaha.

gonna give yours a whirl later tonight!

Yeah I love Brazilian Nuggets too I just dl some Alcide Neves this morning from it. Loronix seems to post more more often and a little more diversified than nuggets. Both are nice. Speaking of Nara Leao, have you ever heard her "Nara '67"?

right. loronix seems less confined by "rock and roll." more samba, bossa nova, etc.

you know, i've only heard the occasional song by nara leao. i know there were a few things re-released recently. i was holding off in hopes of buying one of the domestic re-releases, but i never see it in stores (i have weird file-sharing rules; if i'm gonna pay money for something, i try to do it in an actual record store). i should check her out. i was on a major brazilian/bossa nova/tropicalia kick a few years back, and i think i'm beginning to move back into it. great music for the warm weather!
