Spencer awkwardly found a place in the semi circle of stools and tables surrounding a platform that reminded him of circus ring platform for an elephant who was going to precariously hover his giant foot over a ringmaster’s head. He felt a little bit like that ringmaster right now. He had never actually gone to a thing like this; he usually just worked in his apartment with unconventional materials, and he rarely made sculptures of people other than himself. But he had heard about this, and since he was always one to explore new things, he decided he would give it a try. He scanned the room to observe the company he was in. They were mostly dressed in black and all the girls had strong, intense bangs that covered their eyes and perplexed Spencer. He wondered if they had gotten the notice that the beatnik era was over and hoped that he was in the right place.
He glanced down at himself. He stood out with his jeans, sneakers, and colorful, expressive t-shirt. A figure in a robe brushed past him to the elephant platform and startled him out of his thoughts, which made him jump and yelp. This caused the black clad rest of the room to stare at him behind those impractical bangs, and he hunched over dramatically, pretending to engross himself in the hunk of clay in front of him. He looked up over the clay to find the figure that had brushed past him standing with his back towards him and taking off the robe. Spencer’s blushed and chuckled nervously to the person next to him. The person was not amused. Spencer wiped the smile off his face and turned back towards the subject and -
Spencer’s heart stopped, as did time, as everything faded away except a bright light surrounding the most beautiful thing Spencer had ever seen. Before him was the slight, naked figure of a boy, probably around twenty, leaning on a stool with one leg bent, the other extended, his hands resting on his thighs, his back bent slightly, and his head bent down, causing the shiniest auburn hair Spencer had ever seen to fall forward in a manner similar to those silly black bangs, yet so very different. His inviting, pale skin was spattered with freckles and Spencer got lost in the patterns he could make in them. That is, until his eyes found a trail of hair from his belly button leading his gaze down between two of the sexiest hipbones Spencer had ever seen, to…
Spencer’s not sure how long he just stared before he remembered he was here for art, not gawking. Although, he’s pretty sure this boy was a work of art on his own. He snapped out of it and began molding the clay in front of him. He glanced around to see that everyone else had a lot more progress than he did and he blushed. He tried to recreate the boy on the stool, but his thoughts kept coming back to “elephant”, and somehow his hands molded the mound of clay into something that started to resemble an elephant. He was working on the trunk when he looked up at the boy to find him peering out at him from beneath that beautiful hair, trying not to crack a smile. Spencer could see the slightest movement in his stomach though, and it was clear this boy was lightly laughing. Spencer wasn’t sure what was so funny, but he followed the boy’s eyesight to where his hand was molding the trunk, stroking it slightly. His eyes widened as he realized what this looked like and he instantly jerked his hand away, wishing he could scream, “No! It’s, it’s an elephant!” His cheeks turned a deep shade of red and he hunched over even more on his stool, trying to hide behind his sculpture, which was most definitely not what the boy thought it was. The boy flashed him a super quick smile and then returned his gaze to the floor.
When it was time for the model to take a fifteen-minute break, Spencer was really tempted to just leave. Coming here was a bad idea. From now on he was sticking to the dump and his apartment. He was about to stand up and sneak out when the model, robed now, suddenly appeared beside him and he yelped again as he brought a hand to his heart. The boy chuckled lightly as he placed a hand ever so lightly on Spencer’s back. “Hey man, chill.” Spencer was staring at him wide-eyed, frozen, as he realized that most of the other people had left the room. The boy walked around Spencer’s sculpture and stopped on the other side of him. He nodded as he placed his hands on his hips. The sculpture was obviously not human. “Well,” the boy said as he turned towards Spencer. “You got one part of me right.” He smirked at Spencer before patting him on the back and walking away. Spencer’s mouth was hanging open as he turned his head to follow this boy walk towards the door. At the door he greeted a taller, darker skinned, boy with thick brown hair and a stronger build with a kiss. He then leaned up to the taller boys ear to tell him something intimate. Spencer watched as the other boy, who was equally as handsome, spread a grin across his face. He asked something of the smaller boy, who then turned his head and nodded in Spencer’s direction. Their eyes locked and Spencer snapped his head around, severely embarrassed. He stole a glance out of the corner of his eye though, unable to fight the intrigue, and caught the taller boy’s smile broadening as he nodded. The auburn haired boy smiled in return and kissed the other one on the cheek before the rest of the class filed back in and he made his way back to his elephant platform. He de-robed and retook his position on the stool. Spencer was about to resume sculpting his elephant when another figure appeared out of nowhere and said softly, “Hey.” Spencer jumped and yelped, yet again. He turned to find the brown haired handsome boy smiling at him. Spencer weakly replied, “Hi.”
“Josh,” the boy said.
“Spencer,” he replied and the boy nodded. Spencer glanced around the room, wondering if this was normal and if he would get yelled at for talking, but everyone else was consumed with their clay.
“That’s Drake,” this Josh said as he motioned to the boy on the stool.
“This is an elephant,” Spencer said as he dumbly pointed to his sculpture. Josh let out a low laugh.
“Well, you got one part of him right,” he said as cocked his head to the side and nodded in approval. Then his hand was ghosting down Spencer’s back and Spencer wasn’t sure what was going on, but the touch gave him chills and he wasn’t going to question it. He swallowed and tried to suppress the shiver running through his body. He looked back at Josh to find him looking at Drake, a smirk on his face. Drake was glancing back at Josh with sexy eyes through shiny locks and winked at him before his eyes shifted over to Spencer. Josh’s hand was now moving from his lower back to his upper thigh, which he squeezed gently, as Drake raised an eyebrow at him.
Spencer’s eyes widened and his heart beat faster and a part dangerously close to Josh’s hand twitched, and suddenly he was very glad he had decided to come today.
