Movie rant

The Covenant... I have not seen this movie, nor do I intend to, but I have been wanting to comment on its marketing and commercials for a loooooong time.

From the commercials, this is what I gather from the movie. A group of priviledged boys have supernatural powers that have been passed down to them for generations. But the more they use their powers, the weaker they become. One of them falls in love with a normal chick. And another boy shows up with equal supernatural powers because his family got banished from the group a long, long time ago.

What kind of gay premise is this? Who am I supposed to root for? I can't be sympathetic to any of these characters. Am I supposed to be sorry for the preppy boys who rule the town, but are getting weaker with every prank they pull? (Oh look, I'll lead the cops over the cliff in my Escalade, and poof, appear behind them. I've crashed through a semi and put myself back together with my powers. I really should learn how to drive.) Boo hoo hoo, they're slowly losing their powers that make them superhuman and pricks.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for the boy who shows up to get revenge for getting kicked out of the cool group? Do I feel sorry for the boy who falls in love with a normie? It's like someone went "Let's make a movie about the snobby rich kids of Orange County... but they have super powers!" I want to punch the producers in the face. You almost want to cheer for the newbie to come kill all the other guys to free the town of years of oppression... but you don't care for the newbie anyway. I couldn't care less for any of these characters, and would just hope for their swift deaths.

I hear it's doing badly in the box office, as it should.
