getting up in my grille

Apr 13, 2006 14:25

I bought this today.

The guy was only available today before 8 a.m. so I woke my ass up and drove over to Walnut to take a look at it. Damn, this guy lives in a nice neighborhood. Turns out the guy was Filipino, I should have realized from the Spanish surname. He was selling the piece because his family traded in the Corolla for a new Civic. The part is made in Taiwan but his buddy brought it back from the Philippines. I'm pretty sure this was the exact piece I was looking for in a group buy through a Corolla forum. The grille is nice. It's a one-piece plastic molded design, not a two piece frame and grille design like you'd find in the US (suckass design). I'm not sure if I want to paint it yet. There is a line where you can mask it off and paint along the frame.

When I was picking the piece up, the guy I bought it from actually knew the model Corolla I had. And was checking out my new tires, which I found somewhat odd. Then he told me he works for Yokohama testing tires. His opinion on my Michelin HydroEdges were that they're expensive, but really good tires. He says when they X-ray them at work, they can't find any bubbles at all.

After I picked up the grille, I went home and crashed until I had to commute to work.

cars, my day
