I'm Back... To Tell You I'm Leaving

Mar 16, 2008 15:50

Hello ljworld! Just time for a quick little entry here. Figured I should get one in before I go.

So for starters, that last post I wrote, I remember thinking right after I wrote it that I didn't even get at 100% of what I wanted to, but it really wrapped itself up seamlessly at a certain point and so I was fine with stopping. It's kind of a sad post, but I think pretty well written looking back, so I was probably right. There... I have successfully not forgotten that I decided to say that at my next post.

As I said in that post it had been just days after a low point, and that little bout of melancholy has run its course. In fact, the largest singular cause for the melancholy is a tentative current cause for joy, so take that, my expectations! I think one of the reasons behind it is just that I came a little bit to accept change. Looking back that was more or less the problem I felt I was dealing with, and I think change is always hard at first. So, anyway, that's better. It's also been good to see more people, particularly in Canton where I've seen lots of Joe and Dave and even some Connor. Good times seeing Jon and the Peabody crew about as usual, and Mimi and the girls every now and then too. Most recently good times included Kavod in Brookline followed by the Pi(e) party at Josh's... they both went quite well. And one can't deny the happiness that comes when you know you're taking time off from your boring 9-5, and that you're doing it so you can travel at your leisure and see all your friends. Also, I took free classes on wine tasting and on insurance sales and the paperwork for my insurance licenses is currently being processed since I passed all my tests. But mostly I'm excited for traveling instead of working ;).

I am leaving in, oh probably an hour, to go as far as Providence for the first stop on my many legged trip. I'll do a little St. Paddy's celebrating there and then move on to see my relatives, college friends and high school friends in order of appearance from Boston to D.C. (and one of the ones appearing in D.C. is living in N.C., which I almost went to but since he's coming up I figured why stretch it). That'll all be by car and it'll take around 2 weeks. Then I'm coming home, dropping the car off, and flying out to Phoenix. A few days there visiting Mike/Meaghan and maybe some cousins, a weekend in Vegas where I'll awesomely be joined by Jon and Barry as they fly in, and then a week in Newport Beach with Matan (and probably some time spent in SD/LA while I'm there) before flying back home for Passover. A few days later my bro makes another appearance stateside, so I wanted to be sure I was back for that.

Then it's back to work (although at this point it will include insurance to some degree) to try and rebuild some savings as I prepare for China. Should be an exciting month though, and I'm really looking forward to getting this thing started. Barring an unexpected desire to post here while I'm away, see you in a month, lj!
