Update! Wedding's Over, School's Begun

Boy, 9/11 sure came and went, didn't it? Wierd to think... five years...

My brother's wedding last week was awesome, and I had a really good time. I especially enjoyed my best manly and familial privileges, as I got to make a toast and sing to him with my sisters and even hand him the ring (tho that was a tad less dramatic than it would seem). Didn't get drunk but most of the rest of my family did as usual, so that was fun to watch. One thing that fascinated me was the tradition people performing personal dances in front of him and Michelle (his new wife) while they were sitting in a symbolic throne. Orthos man (or Conservorthos)... they got some strage and interesting traditions. Ah Judaism.

The next day I was up at school. My room is about 1000 times smaller than last year but I actually like it better... it's cozy, I really feel like it's my little corner. No really, cozy's seriously not just a bullshit word here. Overall the apmt is a good size too, nice bathroom and kitchen & the common area's fine... company's good too and we have lots of beer, so it should be a good year from a living area perspective ;). And I really like my classes too. I've been waiting three years to take a courseload like this one... Chinese, Latin, CS of Gaming, and Mod American Authors. Ok, that last one will be boring like many of my other English classes have been but hey gotta keep in good writing shape... and I am genuinely interested in all the other classes. Not like last term, where the classes 'were interesting'. I.Am.Interested in these ones... and hopefully that interest won't wane. I think I might have a shot at curbing my tendency to lose motivation by the end of the term, but time will tell.

Weekends are gunna be busy for me this term (aren't they always in Fall). I could have gone home two days ago to work (I didn't). Next week I'm seeing a Sox-Yankees game in NYC thanks to Shira (so awesome!). Next weekend is Rosh HaShana and the next weekend (virtually) is Yom Kippur. I feel like I had something else planned down the line, and I haven't even spoken to USY people yet about staffing the two or three conventions a term that will take place. Looking forward to it, though I do also expect to very much enjoy my weekends at U.

Lookit that, positivity towards Union. I was just thinking the other day, looking at all the freshmen scared and confused, how well I've finally [started] adapting to this school. Finally I'm not looking for happiness in a way this school can't provide... I've sufficiently dumbed down all my former expectations and created new ones I never thought I'd have. That's at least abstractly positive... I try not to think about it too hard. Remember, I know nothing.

Aside from classwork, the load of which should be a lot but far from as much as I've ever had to do before, I'm also working three jobs this term... very part time. 3 hours a week at the C-Store, 6 hours a week at the Writing Center, and ocassional weekends for USY. Even if I don't take extra hours I think I might rake in almost $1000 this term working, and considering how little I actually expect to work, I am totally cool with that. Maybe I'll finally start add to my savings account more than just once a year now :P. Good to be working and finally starting to make money worth counting though... helps keep me [feeling] productive.

Well, time for lunch. Then maybe a nap. Then I've got to do a few things I forgot to do yesterday... oh yah, been playing lots of tennis/raquetball/frisbee, go warm weather!
