Jubilee Weekend
While we've been busy going out to eat, attending a wedding, and catching up with old friends, the Queen has had her Diamond Jubilee. (speaking of diamonds, she wore brooch which has the world's largest rough cut gem quality diamond, estimated to be worth £50m!)
I don't have much to add, other than it is a hugely momentous occasion that has been marked by a 4-day weekend and several special events. I was away for our street party but caught a few things on TV. The flotilla was impressive, and the procession through town after the thanksgiving service was lovely, but HM on the balcony of the palace was the most moving. Two flyovers and all the flag waving below, with shouts of God Save the Queen was a sight to behold.
