Quotation of the Day: "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety"
- Benjamin Franklin
This day in History: Cal Ripken JR. sat out his first game in 16 years equating to 2,632 consecutive games played. One of the greatest shortstops in baseball history ended the greatest streaks in Baseball history, out of love for the game. To do what you love is all we can really ask for, isn't it?
Well, it has been a long time since I've updated last...
I made my trip across the pond to Alnwick, England. Everything here is amazing, except for the classes which are tedious. The people I've gotten to know are wonderful and the field trips give some great insight as to how the country of England as well as the UK got to be where it is today. I do miss home a little bit, but I wouldn't change anything about coming over here. It is nice that I am able to talk to my friends back at home in case I am homesick.
I am taking Ethics over here with a professor from SCSU and it is one of the best classes that I have ever taken. It is so interesting to think about things from other points of view especially with so many different implications based on the decisions and actions of oneself. I am taking three history classes, one is a science class but it is a history of science and two English history classes.
I also brought my golf clubs and played once here in the town of Alnwick which is located in the region of North Umberland. I plan on golfing a time or two this week when my parents come to visit me. My mom and Dad are flying in tomorrow to spend a week in Northumberland as well as Edinburgh, Scotland. I absolutely can't wait to see them, I do miss them a bit.
Well, baseball is in its final stretch and that is one of the things I miss the most. The race for the Pennant is one of the most enjoyably things in sports. The worst part is the Twins are making a stand that hasn't been seen since 1951 and the Brooklyn Dodgers, lets just hope they don't lose the same way the Dodgers did. The Twins' pitching has come up huge with all the rookie pitchers and the hitting has come from all over the line-up. I just can't wait to see what the playoffs hold whether they make it or not.
I need to go to bed because I have a test in the morning. I will post more often now that I have gotten acclimated with the country. It is been so nice to talk to some of you when I have needed it the most, thanks again. Have a good one, bye bye.
