Quotation of the Day: "Men who never get carried away should"
- Malcolm Forbes
This Day in History: Harry Truman signed the National Security Act in 1947. That led to the creation of the Department of Defense, the National Security Council, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Some may like it for defensive reasons, others may not because it drastically increased the bureaucracy in government, you make the call.
Things are going really well, I have had a wonderful past week. It started out by going up to Ely, Virgina, etc. for golf and a family reunion. It was really nice to see some family that I haven't in a while. My grandpa Jerry is always fun to see and talk to, it is just to bad that people have to get old. I golfed with a couple of my Dad's cousins and one of their sons, fun but painful to watch (my Dad's back was giving him a lot of trouble). Before my weekend extravaganza concluded, I went to a party in Bemidji for my friend Tyler and his girlfriend Erin. That was a blast except for the fact that I had a beer pong partner who wouldn't drink, it was an early night for me. The next day, I went boating on beautiful Cass Lake which by the way has the only island (Star Island) with a lake inside the island in North America and only freshwater one in the world. After the weekend, I came home and went to Acme with Josh, Lindsey, and Grant to see Dave Mordal and a couple of others. The acts were pretty good, one was really funny because he poked fun at "Sports Nerds." Josh and I were laughing our asses off because it was so true about us, the other people we went with know we love sports trivia. It was too bad because Grant couldn't say much due to his jaw being wired shut, that sucks when you go to a comedy show. When I got back home, I got a weird phone call from someone who I couldn't understand at all, it was awkward because he hasn't initiated any conversation with me at all over the past year. It was nice to talk to him, even though it was for a short amount of time and maybe we will hang out this weekend.
The baseball season is in full gear now, and it is becoming very exciting. The Twins are making some nice strides to catch Chicago for the Wild Card. It will be really fun to see the next couple of months and hopefully they will be able to get a playoff berth.
I need to get working on some stuff for my new job, so I will talk to you all later. Have a good one, bye bye.
