Season Three - love it or leave it?

I'm curious about something. It seems that the DP fandom at large (in my possibly limited experience, anyway) isn't really crazy about season three. Me, I loved it, but I recognize that the rampant DxS shippiness colors that greatly.

Phantom Planet is an example. I'm really not a fan of giving-up-your-powers plots, and there was a lot of things in PP that annoy me, particularly the first half of the episode. But any complaints I have are washed away in dim memory after that kiss in Antarctica which, other than the cheesy camera-trucking-around-them bit, was quite possibly my favorite DP scene EVER, and ranks high up on my list of Best First (real) Kisses Ever, too.

Girls Night Out is another example, but with this one, I honestly don't get why people don't like it. Yeah, I know my enjoyment of it has a lot to do with that moment in the fishing boat where Danny's dad asks him about Sam and he sputters, "I don't like... well... maybe..." But even removing that moment, I think it's a really fun episode.

This leads me to wonder... is it me? Or is it them? The places of DP fandom that I frequent other than here seem to be largely populated by people who either don't like ships in general or don't like DxS in particular, and I wonder how much that is coloring their opinions. Is season three bad, and I'm too forgiving because of the DxS moments? Or is season three pretty good (maybe not as good as the other two, but still good) and other fans are too critical because of the DxS moments?

So I thought I'd ask my fellow-DxS-shippers: what do you think? Did you like season three or not? If so, was it because of the DxS moments, or did you like it on its own merits and the DxS stuff was just icing on the cake? If you didn't like season three, what did you dislike (since at least here I assume there's no anti-DxS bias working against it)? What say you, dannyxsam?
