So guess what? I'm STILL at home! *headdesk*
The simple reason is because Greyhound sucks ass! To understand why this is such a big deal (other than the fact that it's making me miss classes), you have to understand what happened Thursday after I'd decided to come home (yeah, still not quite comfortable with the circumstances that brought me home to talk about that just yet)...
So Thursday, which was a crappy day all around (ironic it was 9/11, huh?), and I was just a total blubbering wreck. After talking to Helen about my situation, she offered to buy me a bus ticket home (the dineros was the only thing that had kept me IN Tally that day to begin with). I hated having her pay for it, but at the same time just KNEW I had to come home (and as soon as I knew it was actually happening, I felt better). We went to the Greyhound station, booked a round-trip ticket, and after a couple hours, I was on the bus home...
It was all going fine - had a nice fun txt chat with
taraleesg1 , and an always awesome real chat with
dvshipper about Moulin Rouge and certain friend situation... THEN we get to Mobile, Alabama...
As we are pulling INTO the station AT Mobile, the bus driver INFORMS us that if we were planning on heading any further west, the schedule has been cancelled. WTF?! According to THEM, the weather from Ike (which was pretty nonexistant and barely there at this point) was keeping them from going any further west. Of course, I immediately call Madre and Smurfinator, and they come and pick me up.
It just PISSES me off that they let me get ALL THE WAY to Mobile, and THEN say I can't go any further. Those idiots KNEW there was gonna be a hurricane in the general area and should've TOLD me there could be problems with the schedule BEFORE leaving Tallahassee. If I'd known the buses would STOP for good in Mobile, I never would've come. I know it's not MY fault, but I still feel guilty making them come and pick me up.
And the guilt just piles on because THIS MORNING, we get to the Lafayette bus station for my 8:55 AM departure (and both me and Smurfinator had checked yesterday to see if it was running on time - both of us got confirmation that it was!), and there's no bus there. Turns out the bus isn't gonna be leaving until 4:50 PM - Again, WTF?!?! I was like oh, no no no. I CANNOT do that overnight shit again, and then have to get up and go to classes tomorrow. I have a legitimate excuse to be missing classes anyway, so it'd just be better to my mental heath and stress level if I stayed HERE.
Well, we get home and Smurfinator calls the greyhound people. The customer service women tells us NO buses are leaving from this area until at least Wednesday - there wasn't even a 4:50 bus leaving this afternoon! But then Ted calls back a few hours later, speaks to a different guy, and he says there WILL be buses leaving, including an 8:55 tomorrow morning. OF COURSE calling the specific station doesn't help b/c the line is ALWAYS busy - can never get through.
So right now, we have no clue who's right. Smurfinator said we'll call at 7 tomorrow morning and see what they say. Then again, there's no GUARANTEE anything they say will be right. The only way to know FOR SURE is to get all prepared to leave AGAIN, and drive all the way out to Lafayette...AGAIN!
STUPID FUCKING GREYHOUND ASSHOLES!
So since because of this lovely situation, I ended up doing very little today. I did the paper that's due tomorrow in my EUH class (THANK GOD I have to turn it in electronically only!), so that's not hanging over me anymore - it helps being a fic writer b/c now a days, writing a 1,000 word paper is a BREEZE! Then spent pretty much the REST of the day finishing Eclipse and FINALLY getting into Breaking Dawn (see, it's a GOOD thing I bought the second copy!) I lost track of time after starting Breaking Dawn and didn't realize SCC was on until about halfway through it - I did watch the second half, but now I'm gonna have to watch the beginning on surfthechannel or something. *sigh*
That was the extent of my day...and yet, surprisingly, it wasn't a bad day. Of course now my head is aching and my eyes are sore from reading WAAAAY too much, but that's not gonna stop me from getting some more in before bed! XP
I'll keep y'all updated on the getting home situation....
