"It's the only way to L.A. that she knows..."
Yesterday's back to back tweet post was, as the last one, not intentional. I had really planned to be home in time to post before the tweet post was...posted (I fear there is too much use of the word 'post' in that sentence!).
But as usual, my original plans never go as...planned.
See, yesterday, Smurfinator kept talking like we were going to do something fun and exciting. "Oh we can go out and do this, or do that." So I was hopeful it would be something at least mildly enjoyable and get us out of cleaning the house (b/c it seems that is all we ever do on our days off!).
Well, we got out of the house....just to go clean Smurfinator's Dad's house! That's right, my beloved friends...the same guy who didn't seem to want our help LAST week suddenly decided it was a GOOD time for him for us to come over and spend SIX FUCKING HOURS cleaning up his disgusting mess of a house. Yeah, that was the extent of my day yesterday.
Is it bad when you're vaacuming the floor and, upon reaching the edge of the carpet, dust is flying up in little clouds?? There was more dust flying up into the air than there was being sucked into the vaacum! Madre and Smurfinator spent the WHOLE time there cleaning the damn kitchen. SIX hours to clean a kitchen?! Seriously!? I mean, there were cockroaches IN the fridge. That's nasty!
And I understand his dad is old and his live-in caretaker isn't doing so well himself, but still...when things are THAT bad, you find a way to pay someone to come and help you hand the mess! It should've never gotten to the condition it's in now. *shudders*
On the plus side, I was able to watch The Dark Knight while I was there. I orginally turned it on right before the hospital scene and just watched the rest. Didn't expect to be able to see the beginning. But we ended up staying longer and it was coming on again on a different HBO channel. So I figured I'd get to see the beginning and just miss the middle. Oh no - we were there until a few scenes PAST where I'd come in earlier, so essentially I watched the WHOLE movie which was awesomesauce.
What wasn't awesomesauce was my ankles getting eaten alive by fleas while watching the movie. And I knew it was time to go when the cockroaches decided it was time to come out and socialize. I was fine with the few on the floor...they weren't really TOO close to be uncomfortable. But when one climbed up on the table RIGHT next to my chair, I was done. No THANK YOU!
Yeah, already informed Madre I will NOT being going back to that house any time soon!
Now for other news:
We have lost one of our kittens. Think Nanny laid on top of her poor little baby and killed it. So sad, too, because it was such a sweet little kitteh. Named it Nemo. *sniff* In other kitteh drama, Sikozu has not been being nice to Fiona. No idea why, really. I honestly think Fiona is instigating it, and then crying like a baby when Sikozu tries to show her who's boss. I know it's just normal cat stuff, but seeing as we go on vacay in a week, I don't want to come home and find Fi bleeding to death b/c Sikozu showed her who's boss just a little too much while unsupervised!
Have started up reading the Burn Notice novel again. I went back and decided to just start from the beginning (wasn't very far in, so it's not like it's a big deal). And it's not that the book is horrible - it's actually very good and very in character. I just got swamped with RL stuff and the Twitterwebz this past month...plus trying to stay on top of other things. I plan to do some serious catch-up reading this week and hope to have the book knocked out by the time we're ready to head off to FL.
I think I've decided to vid Rock Star. I'll have to see what Madre has decided about me using her laptop to vid, and if I have the right selection of clips to do it, but it's definitely what I'm leaning towards at this point.
SPEAKING of laptops, another new plan concerning Lord Danny's wellbeing. Smurfinator is taking me to Sam's tomorrow (which is where I got Lord Danny) since my warranty is still good. We are going to see what they say. I think what they'll probably tell me is it's just worth it to invest in a new laptop (possibly replace Lord Danny). At this point, I don't really care. As long as I get my own laptop back within the next few weeks, I'll be happy with whatever is decided on. I can't do this sharing business for much longer or I'll go wonko!
Okie donkie - there is something else I need to say, but it is of a PSA-nature, so it deserves it's own post altogether!
