Need some opinions straight from fandom...
I posted this "request" over on Kawoosh, but have decided to post it here too because I need all the feedback, thoughts, and opinions i can get:
I come to you all a girl desperate to makea good grade on a paper about Stargate.
I am writing a research paper on the incorporation of Arthurian Legend in Stargate SG-1 in the 9th/10th seasons for my Arthurian English class, and am in desperate need of truly heartfelt opinions on the subject.
Seeing as I can't find any type of review or thought on the matter through my 'scholarly' sources, I figured I come to you guys for the 'fan reaction' on the involvement of the Arthurian legends. My teacher even recommended using forums to obtain such information (how convenient, right?)
So what were your thoughts on the matter? How did you think the incoporations and interpretations of Merlin and Morgan le Fay fit into the storyline, and did you like it? What did you think of the parallels between the team and well known members of Arthurian Legend - Daniel to Galahad, Mitchell to Perceval, etc...? Did you already know anything about the mythology, or was this your first taste of it? (Like were you aware that Galahad and Perceval were both knight who sought the Holy Grail, or was the connection not clear - or did you not even care?) Did the incorporation of the Arthurian legends interest you in learning more on the actual stories themselves? Have you actively sought stories on King Arthur and his knights since it was put in SG-1?
Also, a few other question I've come up with: How do you feel about the Grail being made into a weapon rather than it being a cup or chalice? What do you think of it being used AGAINST the big "religion" of those seasons (that being Origin) rather than as a symbol of it like it was originally used in the legends?
You don't have to answer these specific questions - any feedback on the subject is excellent. I just need some fan reaction to the whole SG-1 goes Arthurian thing!
