2008 Election Night
It's finally here and I can't even stand the wait. I was up this morning waiting in line to vote. When I finally got up to the booth the worker kind of let out a sigh and I asked him if it is always like this since this was my first time voting since I moved. He said, "It's NEVER been like this." Given the number of young black folks in line, I'm hoping that is a good thing.
I'm heading home with everything crossed. Hoping for children, this feels even more important to me. I keep imagining them born into a country with its first black President and it is overwhelming. I feel really lucky to be a part of it all.
