I take pictures, photographic pictures

Aug 07, 2007 17:34

As promised, here's the pix from my recent travels; click on the various sub-albums (Russia, Mongolia, China and the Russia sub-sub-albums).

WARNING - there's LOADS of them, over 300 (and that's down from the original 400 plus I took), don't say I didn't warn you!

Meantime, ( here is one of them, since someone specifically asked for it )

*chuckle* Bloomin' right mate!! I don't know how to spell "mate" in a cockney accent so please just imagine! ;p

These pictures are wonderful! I can see why there are so many (I wouldn't have been able to have left any of those out either)!!

I LOVE the Architecture in China - Even the décor and colours in ceilings, arches, etc is SO beautiful!! And don't get me started on the temples! If I ever go there I doubt I'd want to come back!!

You might not have paid him much attention but HOW CUTE is that little boy on the 4th page (still under 'China' - here)??? Awwwww! I want to keep him!! =D

You saw The Great Wall too (your pictures are FAR better than Wikipedia's and any others I've seen online - I've never actually realised how steep in is in parts)!!!! The atmosphere/being there must have been amazing! *jealous pouting* I bet your legs were ready to drop off after all that!

"questionable character some of you may know"...

Looks down right dodgy to me!! =P

What are those 2 things sticking up just after the wooden stairs in this ... )

mmh, lets try... myte? not quite there, but close enough ;-)

Yeah, the colours are just plain amazing, and obviously the pictures dont do them justice at all (especially seeing as it was such a crap photographer as I am taking the pictures)

Awwwww! I want to keep him!! =D

Heh, indeed I hadnt even noticed him. As for keeping him though, I suspect his parents may have other ideas :-P

I went to the most touristy bit and even that was beyond anything I could imagine! and yes, the return journey to Beijing on the bus was very quiet, I suspect we all fell asleep to recover after the great climb ( ... )

I've just returned from Mongolia - It was excellent! =) I'd never heart of a Yurt until now (learn something new everyday)!

This reminds me of Ireland!

The Mongolian barbecue looks interesting... There are a lot of places/things I'd like to see but as silly as it sounds, being vegetarian can be a bit of a problem.

Ooooh! What kind of creature/Birdy is this? Hmm??

This Looks a bit like an elephant to me.

Hehe! How can I look at the pretty rocks with that ruddy West Ham top getting in the way!! =P

Speaking of rocks... this is a rather interesting shape!! Don't let Ray see it!!

Turtle Rock made me think of 'The Never Ending Story'!! =D

This also reminds me of Ireland ( ... )

oh, you did it in reverse order then (unfortunately photobucket lists the albums in alphabetical order, therefore China -> Mongolia -> Russia, but I went to Russia first, then East to Mongolia and then I finished with China).

Yurts are felt tents where the nomadic populations live (and tourists who want to see what its like when on holiday in the national park too ;-) )

Being a veggie can be a bit of a problem in some places, but if you stick to the tourist places they normally have a vegetarian option.

As for the bird... I would have thought it's a vulture/buzzard, but now you're putting doubts in my head

what else? yeah, the landscape does look fairly 'nordic'/alpine in places, though the climate etc are completely different.

Enjoy Russia then ;-)

"oh, you did it in reverse order then"...

I've always been a bit odd anyway!

I really had never heard of Yurts before; I'm quite chuffed with that! =)

Yes, that's the thing with being veggie. I would rather mix in with locals and see a country properly as oppose to go to touristy spots but I guess it's possible to kind of mix the two, if you plan it.

It's a very interesting looking bird; I don't think I've seen one like it before (pictures or otherwise)!

Anyway...

As you can see I have returned from Russia and it was fabulous!! ;)

Baikal is beautiful (I'd love to see Russia)!!

Guess where this reminds me of?! =P

The train to Moscow is pretty! They look REALLY high up from what I have seen (I mean more than usual/more that the trains here)! Another example of that here too (might just be me but it looks really really high)!!

Did you actually get lost in the forest or are you lying?

I love this... A lot of the buildings are so colourful but they look good (part of the character of the place; I like it)! I like log cabins as ( ... )

yes, it is, and so is the whole of the country (well, the bits I've seen anyway)

no, trains are actually pretty much the same as ours, it's just the photo - tracks are often slightly elevated from the ground, and that path was uphill anyway.

Did you actually get lost in the forest or are you lying?

No, I was just quoting the Cure, I never get lost me ;-)

Parts of Russia are indeed similar to northern european landscapes (which is what Scotland and Ireland mostly are), especially those I went to, though its such a big country that ir really depends where you are.

When are we going back again?! ;)

I'd go tomorrow if I could! Realistically though, who knows, maybe next year (well, not necessarily BACK to the same places, but I'd like to travel a bit more regularly, work and other things permitting)

P.S. Just before I go to Russia, please be warned that if you didn't get a picture of 'River Yana', I will be VERY upset!! ;p

River Yana? Where does it flow? I swear I didnt cross it, otherwise I probably would have. Russia is a rather big country you know, I couldnt have possibly been everywhere in ten days ;-)

There's a Wikipedia artical on it but I'm not sure how accurate it is.

"I couldnt have possibly been everywhere in ten days ;-)"...

Not good enough, sorry!! ;)
