The Jena 6: Just say "NO".
Anyone that's been following the news about the Jena 6 has certainly heard the whining and yammering of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others.
"It's racism that the Jena 6 are being charged with anything."
"The judicial system is racist."
"If they were white the Jena 6 wouldn't have been charged with anything."
Now, I agree that attempted murder charges for the 6 on 1 beating of the victim is excessive. I'd even go so far as to call it stupid.
However, the claims made by the race baiters like Al and Jesse are insane at best and racist in and of themselves at worst. Let's look at a couple of things, shall we?
1.) It's not racism that the Jena 6 are being charged with breaking the law. They did break the law when they beat a kid into unconsiousness. That's assault, at the very least. People go on and on about how they only got charged because they were black, thus playing the race card and obfuscating the fact that the Jena 6 blatently broke the law. Period.
2.) Actually, the judicial system is not and cannot be racist. Why? Because it's a system. Thus, it's unable to think or feel. Being not human in the slightest, it's flat out impossible for the judicial system to be racist. I suspect that the DA in charge of the case was interested in sending a message to potential felons in town. That message being: "Break the law, get the book thrown at you." Frankly, I don't see how that's a bad thing.
3.) If the Jena 6 were white they'd most likely be facing the same charges as the actual criminals in question. Further, because they were white they'd be facing Hate Crime charges as well.
The Jena 6 should have been charged with aggrivated assault, with the Hate Crimes tag added underneath. Because it was a blatently racist and race motivated thing to do.
I'm sure many people out there would deny that allegation to the dying breath, but lets look at the facts.
6 BLACK kids beat the shit out of a WHITE kid because some other WHITE kids hung a noose under a tree when a BLACK kid asked to sit under it. There's been on evidence presented that the victim was involved in the noose hanging that I've been able to see. So... here's what we have then: 6 kids beat the shit out of another kid because he was white. That, by the very definition of the Hate Crimes legislation, makes this a Hate Crime. As such, the 6 black kids should be treated just like any other person who comitted a Hate Crime.
Now, Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton have no room whatsoever to talk where racism is concerned. Jessie Jackson is on record as calling New York "Hymie- Town". Al Sharpton is a race baiting opportunist.
The proof is out there. When a certain famous black basketballer turned coach made the comment in court that it was O.K. for a black man to call a black woman a bitch but that if a white man called a black woman a bitch he'd think it was a problem both Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton were conspicuously silent on the topic. What a far cry from their reaction to Don Imus' comment about nappy headed hos. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Instead of saying that they felt the young men should be punished for breaking the law these two hypocrites are on record saying that the charges should be dismissed and that the 6 should be freed. If the matter were reversed- if 6 white kids had beat a black kid into unconsicuousness do you suppose that either of them would be there advocating for the release of the criminals? Of course not. They'd be commenting on the state of racism in America and hoping that the jury made an example out of the criminals.
Just once I'd like to see something like this go down and have the 'advocates' involved actually advocate for a legal and fitting punishment.
