How did you hear about Badfic? I live here, o’course.

This app is recycled from his first time at the manor. The first person sample has been rewritten. See notes at the bottom for the miniscule changes he'd had since then.

IC Information:

Character Name: Charles Xavier (eventually Professor X, but please, no Charlie. It irks him)
Name that appears on name plaque:  Charles
Character Journal: Psychic_Labrat
Canon: X-Men of various degrees. Mostly First Class canon with touches from comic
Point in Canon: Mid-movie, where he’s still intrigued about finding mutants and before all the really bad shit happens.
Age: Young enough to be a damned sexy barhopper. :|a
Birthday: We’ll say he’s a Libra. Why not? We’ll throw him a random party someday.

Appearance:

His hair is longer and usually falls where it will, but he usually dressed that suave and mature.

Abilities: Charles is a telepath of considerable power. He can learn most everything about a person in no time at all and even without trying he can learn quite a bit from just an initial brush with someone’s mind. He has the ability to draw up old buried memories in people. He can influence what people see or don’t see, able to make himself (and others) invisible to the eye, and even temporarily ride people and borrow their senses. He’s also able to speak with others in their heads, holding entire conversations even over large distances. At his most powerful he can compel people to do what he wants them to, or freeze them in place, or even completely wipe out memories. His power does not work on animals. While his power has incredible range and has few limits, there are ways to block his ability. Certain materials can deflect telepathy, like diamond and mirrors, though even a single crack is enough to get through those.

He’s not in complete control of his ability though. He will often hear particularly loud surface thoughts even without him reaching out for them. Heavy, violent emotions can hit him without warning if they’re within his range. He sees memories in HD as if it were him that was feeling it, much like when he rides someone. He is unable to block certain senses and still do what he intends with a mind.

He has some physical ability with martial arts as well, and is pretty fit for someone who looks like they spend all their time with their nose in a book. He’s deceptively active, and incredibly intelligent.

I’m probably missing something somewhere, but this is essentially it. (I also heard about him having some latent telekinetic ability but *handwave* even if he did it wouldn’t show up when he’s this young anyway, cause I said so)

Personality: Charles is ultimately a very moral man. His motivations are driven mainly by peace between humans and mutants, and he wants to do that in as much of a nonviolent way as possible. He believes that one day he can work towards this existence with everything he has. While he is known to do what he has to in order to save lives, he always does it with the best of intents. Still, he doesn’t believe murder is ever the answer.

He also tends to collect people. He has this trustworthy aura and often gains people’s respect even though sometimes he makes mistakes.  He’s someone for them to look to for answers, because he carries himself like someone who has them, and ultimately he is someone to depend on. He would do just about anything to protect almost anyone. He even tries to fix people who seem broken, having complete faith in their ability to harness the good inside them. It’s difficult for him to leave well enough alone because he understands what it’s like to hurt. This leads him to be very forgiving, perhaps to a fault.

He’s often very excitable. Mutations fascinate him, and when he learns there are other mutants out in the world besides himself and his sister he wants to meet them all. Learn about them and what they can do. Get him going on the science behind mutation and he could talk for hours. Despite how he looks, and his considerable success in the scientific field, he’s still a young man who loves to have fun. He flirts, he drinks, and he’s certainly not celibate, but it’s a clue about his willpower that he never fucks himself up, for lack of a better term, because he knows that his control is hard earned and were he to ever lose it things may very well turn out bad.

Charles is always hyper aware of his own self, because he needs to keep a constant control on his power. Bad things could happen if he lost control, and the possibilities do not bear thinking about. His particular mutation may be invisible but he has to hide just like everyone else, being mindful of what he says around people just in case they ever find out.

Despite this he is still very easy to get along with. He’s fond of a good debate, and plays chess in his free time to relax, and just generally loves people; flaws and all.

Strengths:
-He is an accomplished telepath.
-He believes in the good in everyone.
-He’s trustworthy and someone to rely on.
-Given time he’ll forgive just about anything.
-He’s very respectful of boundaries when asked to be.

Weaknesses:
-He’s not in full control of his power, and in fact there is the possibility that it could hinder him.
-Again, he believes the good in people, which one can take advantage of.
-He’s very curious, and will use his power to learn about people unless asked not to.
-He tends to be dense sometimes when it REALLY counts.
-Incredibly underestimated physically.

History: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Xavier - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_First_Class#Plot
To be honest, I couldn’t write anything that even came close to that wiki. Fortunately, this Charles is primarily movie-verse First Class with a little bit from his comic canon to flesh out the background we don’t learn of his.

Charles grew up in Westchester, New York. His father died when he was really young and his mother remarried. Kurt brought with him his own son, Cain, and over time his mother became an alcoholic and was rarely ever there. Charles was abused by his step-father and his step-brother both, and thanks to his early developed mutation he understood Cain’s pain as well as he knew his own, though it didn’t earn him an eventual friend with his brother.

Finding Raven one night in his kitchen was pretty much a godsend. All in one night Charles learned that he wasn’t the only mutant in the world, and he gained a valuable friend. It was no trouble ‘convincing’ his family to let her stay, even less to protect her from Kurt. She was there for him when his mother finally died, and when a lab accident killed his step-dad and drove off Cain, they survived together using their powers to keep from being separated. Charles used a combination of intelligence and telepathy to get through school and earn his way into college.

Before graduate school he held a short stint in the military, but went back to college to further study genetics and mutation. It wasn’t long after earning his degree that he was contacted by Moira McTaggart about other mutants and a threat to national security. Through the CIA, Charles saves Erik Lehnsherr from an untimely watery demise and promises to help the man however he could, though the both of them have very different ideas about how he could help.

Together they began finding mutants thanks to an invention called Cerebro, and set out on an epic roadtrip of excitement and intrigue.

First Person Sample:
I don't understand. I thought I had been gone from this place? I had been relieved to wake up at home and still remember my time from the manor, but I never expected to be returned.

And again without Erik. I know now what we were both trying to hide from me; the course my future must take. What more must I learn? Is the Author attempting to spare me that path for a little longer yet? No, I doubt that. Several of the actions she had taken upon us when I were last here are too horrible to assign her that sort of mercy.

I can only begin to guess what she is thinking.

Still, it can be a blessing in disguise. I now have the opportunity to think of what I am going to do. I have the time to figure out a way to save Erik, and myself. I shall take this as it comes, now, and try my best not to let my guard down.

Third Person Sample:
Charles thumbed the corner of his page, reading the script with a concentration that he usually reserves for a particular stubborn problem. The page turned quickly and he devoured the words on the last of the chapter, shutting the book afterwards with a touch of finality.

So the husband had been the killer after all. He knew that, in fact, back near the beginning of the novel, but he held out hope that perhaps the plot wasn’t quite so predictable.

He looked up after a moment to see Erik casually lounging in the doorway, watching him. He took on a surprised expression, as if he hadn’t known the man had been standing there patiently while Charles finished his book. “Erik, I didn’t notice you.”

His friend’s face shifted into a ‘like hell’ expression. “It’s almost time to go.”

Charles smiled and stood up. “Of course. I’ll meet you outside.” Erik turned away and Charles stretched, still easily smiling as he finishes packing his bag and leaves the hotel. They walked for some time, with the telepath reaching out with his power to find a certain taxi cab with a young man that very much intrigued him.

“So who was it?” Erik asked as they hailed the cab when it came into view.

Without hesitation, Charles sighed. “The husband. You were right. I’m beginning to think if I want to read the perfect mystery I’m going to have to write it myself. Proper intrigue and sexiness and betrayal.” Erik said nothing as he opened the door for Charles, just smirked at him. In return, Charles laughed and slid into the backseat, resting on arm along the back as Erik sat next to him.

“Where to, fellas?”

Notes: Charles was previously at the manor. He'll be canon updated just a little bit to just before the beach trip, but after the majority of the training montage from the movie, to account for the larger amount of his absence. He will, in fact, remember his time here, and be so not amused. Absolutely nothing has changed for him in terms of ability or personality, except maybe an added protectiveness and a bit more experience dealing with people with powers. His canon advanced only a few weeks, so any knowledge gained at the manor was not enough to significantly change his history. Not a whole lot happened while he was IN the manor to change him either, though now he knows what death feels like and it does not agree with him.

Bonus: Birdy. B|  (<--- this is still relevant)

Also James McAvoy is so pretty!!
