Finally, my report of PoA

Jun 07, 2004 17:06

I have been ranting and raving a lot over the past couple days, and now I think I finally have all my thoughts gathered, so here I go...

First I'll start off with my peeves. Don't read ahead if you don't want spoilers.

The biggest peeve of mine and everyone else's who I've spoken to is that they didn't explain how Lupin knew about the Marauder's Map, and who Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail, and Prongs were. There was this one fleeing instant where Harry turned to walk away, then turned around, I thought Harry was gonna ask Lupin about them OR EVEN HOW HE KNEW!, but then he just told him that he saw Pettigrew on the map. THAT MADE ME SO ANGRY! Cuaron said that he didn't think it was essential to this movie, and would do better in a later one. IF IT WASN'T ESSENTIAL, JKR WOULDN'T HAVE PUT IT IN THE BOOK! Grr. And he wanted to cut Trelawney too, but JKR refused to let him.

Another big one was the end. HELLO?? The movies should end with Harry getting on the Hogwarts Express, or with Harry meeting the Dursleys when he gets off the train. NOT with Harry flying off on his broom! Ugh, it was so clique, it was sickening!

One smaller problem was the fact that werewolf Lupin and dog Sirius weren't convincing enough. The werewolf looked like he was trying out for Scooby Doo 3, and the dog looked like a friggin mutt. A MUTT! Dog Sirius was supposed to be a huge ass dog! But I will forgive them on one exception. That his looks were because he's all worn out from Azkaban and will be a much better bigger dog in GoF. (they better not cut him from GoF!!!)

I couldn't stand that "Random Gryffindor Boy" they had there. He just seemed so wrong for it! They could have totally gotten away with giving his lines to Dean. It's so wrong cause he's probably related to someone working on the film, otherwise he would have never been allowed anywhere near the damn set!

This is kinda dumb, but I hate that they changed Angelina. This girl doesn't even look anything like the one from the two previous films.

Now the things I liked...

The movie started out in sort of a documentary style filming while Harry was with the Dursleys which I thought was absolutely brilliant! Even the opening scene with Harry in his room seemed to fit perfectly. You could tell the filming techniques were so different from the Muggle World and the Wizarding World, and everything changed the moment he stepped onto the night bus. And momentarily, when he was looking out his Leaky Cauldron room window, and saw the Muggle world outside, it was temporarily that old style again which I loved to bits!!!

Lupin was amazing! I loved David Thewlis in the part so much. He was perfect for it! But one could possibly make a drinking game out of how many times he told Harry to eat chocolate, but like Ron saying to Hermione "Where did you come from?" a billion times, it was another running line that I thought was funny. And Cuaron being the perfect little pervert that he is turned me into a Padfoot/Moony slasher with the embraces, the looks, and Snape's line "You two bicker like a married couple."

'Ships ruled this movie, and I loved that. There was so much Ron/Hermione and Harry/Hermione going on that they even had a threeway hug! A very awkward one at that, because it was Ron and Hermione, and Harry was just trying to get in on it! But I loved it all the same.

Buckbeak was so believable! Much more than any CGI animal/character I have ever seen before. I loved him! He almost stole the whole movie.

The little scenes with the Whomping Willow as the seasons changed and the birds that kept bumping into the tree and dying were quite funny. I loved that.

Dawn French did the Fat Lady beautifully. I thought she was much funnier than the one before her. All the paintings were great, and I even spotted Alfonso's daughter in one of the paintings! Look out for her! Adorable blonde baby.

Ron was hillarious in this film! There were like a billion little funny things he said or did in the film that cracked me up. Like when he woke up from the nightmares about the spiders making him dance, I loved that! And he looked so damn sexy in those tight muggle shirts! Especially the pajama one. He had pecs!!!

I liked the Random Slytherin Boy. He was cool. If he ends up being known as Nott, I'll be quite happy cause he's like I imagined the guy. The exact opposite of Crabbe and Goyle.

The new ladies were lovely, Parvati and Pansy. Sure, their cameos were really brief, but I loved them none the less! They were both quite pretty.
