Too Old For This...Stuff

I just found out that, because I'm from the Virgin Islands, they consider me the same ethnicity that they do Hawaiians...Asian. Not that I have a problem with it--it's yet another circle for me to fill in on the applications( and I like that. Isn't it fun to watch the interviewer get uncomfortable with trying to place you with a definite ethnic group??). I, all of a sudden, have to fill out a new census report and I'm being called a liar for filling out the "Two or More Races (not including Asian)" circle. How was I to know?? It's a little negligent for me to not know what I should identify with, but can you blame me?? I'm a nineteen-year-old West Indian American!! I have never identified myself as anything but Taino Indian or West Indian American.  I have been known as such for the nineteen years that I have lived so far; isn't that too old to be changing anything?
