Okay, probably the most eventful week in my life.
My Grandfather died the 30th. He was 82 and suffering for a while and its comforting to know he's at peace. So naturally we flew up to New York for the funeral and since it was last minute I told no one and just decided to be like "YO I'M HERE" and surprise everyone. Surprised Melissa by showing up at her door while on the phone with her, scared the crap out of Carol and told Mike to check his mailbox when I was standing next to it. Good stuff.
So on my visit it dawns on me, I should look for apartments while I'm in town. And of course this was Wednesday night, so I extended my flight from Friday to Sunday (cost 190 ow). Looked on craigslist at Carols, found a couple, couldn't get in touch with the people I called but Friday night I printed out a crap load and went hunting with my uncle on Saturday. Saw 7 places and it wound up coming down to 2. Both in Lindenhurst but I settled on one right near Wellwood. $800 a month with everything but electric, cable blah blah. Best value for what I got.
Between all that I talked to Sal about getting my job back and he guaranteed me a $9.50/hr position (part time unfortunately but full time position lined up) with my seniority. We're pushing for $10.50 with a chance of me making what I'm making at Kroger.
So got an old/new job, bought an apartment. Nervous as hell.
Flew in Sunday night at 5, had to be at work at 10pm to 6am. Ew. But anyway, spent the whole day pretty much talking to the Realtor, faxing papers, talking to the landlord and a bit to Sal. So I'm set to move in after January 1st. But now it is beginning to hit me that I might not be able to keep up. So I talked to my dad to talk to my aunt about getting a job with Cablevision (for real this time) where I can keep up with living on my own even easier and THEN called about information to a cooking school in Syosset. 9 month course starting in March with financial aid available.
So basically, I got an apartment, my old job back (with a better one practically lined up) and a real plan for school all in 1 week. WISH it coulda been that easy in the first place.
Let's see what happens.
