I'm tempted, really, about
this. But... (there is going to be several buts):
The deadline. June 3 - with the baby due any day now... Borderline impossible.
The betas. The writing process getting even slower with betaing as my English isn't improving much. Shifting the borderline the more into the impossible.
The theme. I'm itching to do Jane Eyre. It's the first that leaps to my mind when you say "classical piece". It's also my favourite.
But... (here some buts subsequent to the Jane Eyre idea):
It's long. To cover the main plot, even when omitting the beginning at Lowood and the sidelines like Mrs. Reed death, I'd need a ridiculous amount of words.
I would have to set in in modern times. Would it be too much?
The pros (now to what tempts me to do it in the first place):
I've always liked Edward Rochester's character. He's dark enough to be sherlocked, I think.
John's role is self-presenting. Anyone could use a resident personal doctor. Mrs. Fairfax as Mrs. Hudson is obvious.
Maybe Victor Trevor as the lunatic in the third storey? There seems to be a general consensus in the fandom about Sherlock's past with Victor.
Mycroft as the ever-meddling lawyer Briggs.
And naturally, someone for St.John Rivers. Mary Morstan would do.
But who on Earth could play Blanche Ingram? Moriarty is far too strong character for her. I'm thinking to drop the Ingram thing out of the plot completely. She's a decoy after all.
And now what.
Should I write it even when I won't make it for the deadline?
Would anyone be interested in such a story?
Will I get a single commentary to this entry? laughing bitterly
