Rest of 2012

How fancy of me to make 2012 summary at the end of March? I fell a lot behind and there´s lots of events I didn´t get to write about. Not only theater and events but even whole vacations, which I´m sad about. My little posts really help me remember stuff but I know I´m not capable to go the whole way back and write it down now. I will just try to mention everyting shortly.

First thing is my vacation in Slovakia in July with my friends. I really didn´t know if I should go because it was only three weeks after I got back to work after my knee injury and also I was just barely walking at the time. Not the best time to go to the slovakian mountains, really. But I missed my friends and after being home for three months I really wanted to go somewhere. I´m glad I did, even though I couldn´t participate in all the little trips and stuff. We rented a beautiful wooden cottage in a little mountain village, Jezersko. It was the best house we ever rented, for sure. It even had a table football and billiard table only for us. We made lots of trips and I got to see my childhood dream, the Spis Castle, a huge medieval castle complex. We also visited the Balianske Caves which was a big challenge for me because there was over 800 stairs and I couldn´t really walk the stairs back then. We went down the Dunajec river on the tradicional wooden rafts „pltě“ in the Pieniny national park and we visited the Niedzica castle in Poland right next to the boarder with Slovakia. The only big trip I couldn´t be part of was hiking in the Slovakian Paradise, which is a national park, a mountain range area with gorges and waterfalls. I saw beautiful photos and I always wanted to go there but alas, I was not in the right condition this year.

I also went beck to Dresden in September where my friend celebrated her 30th brithday. We went to a traditional german restaurant for dinner and the next day we went to visit the Dresden ZOO. The weather and the walk were lovely.

I also went to the battle of White Mountain reenactment in September since the area is close to my place. That was the most important battle in our history that we lost, czech protestant Estates against the catolic Habsburgs and the Holy Roman Empire. It happend in 1620 and then we lost our independence for the next 300 years. The reenactment was nice, with horses and all. Our popular actor was commenting the scene infront of us so it was educating, too. What can I say, Im history junkie. There was a little fair on the side and it was fun.

I also went to a theater two times in November. I went to see a play called „Don´t touch my fašírka“. Fašírka is slovak minced meat food. It was a play with two famous slovakian actors, Milan Lasica and Milan Knažko. It was basically talk between two old men who were remembering the „good old times“. My co-worker told me it was funny and so I bought the tickets. I thought the humour was lacking. I guess Lasica´s work is not my cup of tea. The more significant part of the evening was that I had my first date with my boyfriend whom I invited to see the play. Luckily the not that funny play didn´t ruined it and we went for the dinner after and everything was on a good way:-)

Two weeks later I took him to see the Cabaret Calembour I saw before. I think it´s a good dating material, light and funny. He liked it.
