Curtains the Musical

I went to see the musical CURTAINS in September, got a ticket as a birthday present from my friend. I wanted to see it so the present was very welcomed. I´m excited about every broadway musical coming to our stages. They play it in Music Theater Karlin and we went to see it one day before the official opening. I like the old traditional musicals the best, the musicals that are more like plays with songs, like MFL or WSS. This musical was like that but one thing was lacking, a memorable musical score. I was leaving the theater and didn´t remember one melody which I think is a bummer. This theater on theater story is about a company rehearsing a new musical and during the dress rehearsal the main star of the show dies. A detective comes to the scene to resolve the crime while dancing and singing and trying to help for the opening night to happen.lol More and more people die during the show. We didn´t know who the killer was so at least it was interesting. Each of us made a guess during the intermission and we were all wrong.lol
There were always tons of people on the stage which made it harder to focus on what was really important and it made the story a little shattered, I felt .
I liked Ondřej Brzobohatý as the detective but the biggest revelation was the actor who played the director. Such a small role but he really made it stand out. He normally plays in Pilsen and so his performance felt fresh.
The show was a harmless fun which sadly didn´t give me much to remember later.

My friend had a birthday the next month so I gave her tickets to see the God of Carnage. Since I loved it I was hoping she would enjoy it, too and she did. Made me happy. I enjoyed it the second time around, too. You can´t go wrong with this play:) Funny thing is that Ivana Chýlková who plays in Carnage also plays the Producer in the Curtains. She has been literally everywhere lately. But that´s ok, I like her.
