Ele from Dresden came to visit me last weekend. She arrived late on Friday evening. It was lucky coincidence that Kat was visiting her family that week, arriving on Saturday afternoon from Berlin and Con decided to tag along so it was a nice unexpected reunion. The last time we saw each other was
New Years Eve.
Ele and I had a whole day before the girls arrived and I wanted to show Ele something new in Prague but unfortunately the weather was really bad. I wanted to have a lazy picnic in Vyšehrad but the constant rain made it impossible. Ele didn´t want to wait for the rain to stop (it never did) and so after watching few episodes of Friends we went out. Instead of picknic we opted for a walk through Vyšehrad. Vyšehrad is a castle, built in 10th century, on a hill over the Vltava River. Situated within the castle is the Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul and a cemetery with many famous people from the czech history. There are also a beautiful views of the whole city and the Prague castle. We took lots of pics of the views and walked through the cemetery, looking for Franz Kafka, only to realize that he was not buried there. Duh, he was jewish.lol When we were soaked and cold enough we took a metro and went to Wenceslav Square to hide in the biggest bookstore in the country. Then we bought the famous Wenceslav sausage, ate it in the rain and then went straight to my place. We changed our wet clothes and waited for the girls arrival.
We met the girls in our almost religious place, KFC.lol Apparently the german and even US KFC has nothing to ours. Go figure. Girls told us everything about their recent LA and NYC. We continued the evening in cinema, watching the last Harry Potter (my third time). It was kewl. And then we bought some vodka booze and went back to my place where the best thing ever happened. The girls made the wifi on my iPod work again. The wifi had worked everywhere but my apartment and my own internet. Now I can be online on my iPod in my bed again. Happy sigh.lol
And what a surprise, it was raining on Sunday, too. Con wanted to see something from Prague, though, so we went for a short walk in Kampa park next to the Charles bridge. It was a nice walk, even though it was raining. We were nicely umbrella coordinated.lol
On our way back we stop for another mandatory meal in KFC, then quick trip to my place to pick up girls bags and then hurry to the main bus station to say goodbye to the girls.
It was a nice visit, even though I had to survive my friends talking about the Castle show constantly.
Two pictures. One of Prague in the rain (doesn´t look like summer, does it?) and then us in front of the Kafka museum.
